This story on the BBC website shows dedication http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-33808629 but it also made me think of our own postal service.

4 weeks a go I received a letter clearly marked for an address on the other side of Stafford. So I then went down to the sorting office to explain that it was delivered to me in error. The person at the counter wrote on it explain the issue.

The following Friday the letter was again delivered to me but also with a load of mail for my neighbour. So I trotted off to the sorting office.

I think as it is holiday time they may have some agency staff in!!!.

What part of Stafford if you don't mind me asking? I was a postman for a while.

We get somebody else's mail about twice a year, always the same folk as we share a house name. If I'm going out I will take it round myself, if not I try and catch the postie and give it them back.

I think the issue is it being a "mis-sort". The mail shouldn't be in your postie's batch of mail, so when it is he either takes it back or stuffs it through someone else's letterbox and hopes that person will re-deliver.

Yeah he shouldn't have had it to sort in the first place, but he can tell the difference in address - I've seen lots of posties do a case of "just get rid of it."
