V Festival - wellies & ponchos

What a God-awful August and summer - was hoping my £90 wasn't going to spent in a mud-bath, but it seems we're going to get very wet. Will just have to drink more to compensate. We cannot take our own booze in, so plan is to pre-load at Spoons with a breakfast from 9am. If any other forum-ites are going you're welcome to join us - we'll be the ones in the wellies - plan is to take the booze in our bloodstreams

I think I went around 2000

I was assigned the role of rubbing Kylie down with a damp copy of The Sporting Life in between costume changes

Later I was attached to some giant angelic purple gossemer wings and flithovered over to the daaaance tent

Either that or I had my noted ham and eggeries spiked after a trip to the saw mill

Who can tell, but every time I have a bet I have to sniff my fingers

I believe Virgin still had 80000 tickets left to sell over the two sites, doesn't surprise me with the lineup.

It wasn't the best lineup we've seen, with a few wrinkly rock acts, but the Stereophonics were good, Paloma put on a good show and the Charlatans were very good - a day of boiling hot sunshine during the day, cursing the fact we had bought wet weather gear and wellies, then still getting soaked anyway when the heavens opened. Beer far too expensive at £4.90 for a bottle of Carling (not even a pint unless you went to the draught tent, and it was Carling Lager or Carling Cider). Food was £7 a portion for pretty much anything. Manage to smuggle wine bag babies in, but still got through over £120. Bus service door to door from Stafford Station was excellent - no queueing either end. Would we go again? - Yeah probably, but it is expensive and not surprised they had spare tickets, but it is a major festival and it is on the doorstep of Stafford so yeah probably, if we can find another £300 for it next year. Seemed to be far more girls there than blokes

Not been to V since Placebo / Foo Fighters / RHCP played (on the same stage, on the same night), most years since it looked a bit poor for my tastes and when they started selling tickets before announcing the acts I just stopped bothering with festivals.

It used to be decent but turned into somekind of xfactor pop bag o shite. The kind of people who want to watch crappy pop acts are still getting pocket money and wont be allowed in without an adult. It will die a death next year unless they get some serious acts on. The leeds reading festivals are going that way aswell.

Too many festivals - ones on the continent are very popular with Brits

Not enough cash/energy/holiday/artists to go around
