I took my daughter to the Vintage Tea Emporium in Uttoxeter yesterday, it's my third visit and has never disappointed.
We had the afternoon tea which is served (for walk ins) between 2 and 4 but if you call and book they'll serve it from 12 iirc. You get a choice of loose leaf tea though I generally stick with English breakfast so I'm not sure how many varieties are on offer, they do have a board with the special tea of the moment on it (yesterday's was chamomile rose) this is followed by the food, small but very delicious sandwiches, usually filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese, roast beef, cheese and mayo, tuna, ham and cucumber. Then two big scones with jam and clotted cream and a top tier of assorted cakes, generally two bigger ones and 4 smaller bite size ones. Yesterday's bigger cakes were a walnut cake and a chocolate mousse/cheesecake style creation which was amazing.
There are two floors so even though it appears small when you walk in there are more tables than you think. The staff are always friendly and very willing to help, the afternoon tea came with a few strawberries and one of the ladies noticed my daughter was really enjoying them and brought her another small dish of strawberries - no charge. Very kind.
I've been once for breakfast and had the best scrambled eggs and smoked salmon muffin I've ever tasted, the eggs were so light, almost like mousse! It's all very decently priced too, I consider it worth the money. The sandwiches are small but the cakes are awesome, we had to bring some of the cake home because we were full.
(£10.50 per person with a minimum of 2 people)
I think they do also have a proper menu for lunch etc but I've not eaten this...yet. They are on Facebook and have lots of photos of their food, it all looks amazing.
*apologies if this is hard to read, I had to write it on my phone as my darling daughter has stolen my tablet to watch Peppa Pig...
