CAN YOU HELP FLASH LEY Primary School?????
Due to the recent closure of the Flash Ley primary school building, the children have been relocated to the Chetwynd centre on the Newport Rd Stafford.
At present no one is able to go back in the school building and due to this the children are in desperate need of the following :-
Stationary pens,pencils,paints etc
Crayons, paper, reading books for all ages, pe-kits for ages 5-10 years and notebooks,
any donations can be dropped off at the chetwynd centre reception between 10am- 2pm
PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE and lets do what we can.
Many thanks

The school will still have access to their bank accounts and together with the LEA which makes provision for this sort of emergency should be well capable of sorting this themselves rather than resorting to public donations.

Why PE kits need to be bought I can't understand. There are people in the building trying to sort the problem, can they not bring the existing PE kits out?

I'm aware that a number of Local Authorities support their schools with emergency planning.

The link for Staffordshire is broken! I've attached Nottinghamshire's

Its not uncommon to have a school burn down!

I would have expected there to be a plan and the resources to go with it.

Sadly its something often overlooked.

Children's education should not be interrupted through lack of planning.

Not if allocation is already spent up. Most stationary is ordered in at the start of the year,
long gone are the days when you could order whatever whenever.

Regarding PE kits surely kids could just wear any old shorts n T shirt or leggings for the girls most kids will have them.

I didn't post this on here to start a political discussion on who should be providing the items needed, only to let anyone who would like to help the Children of Flash Ley know that they could & what is needed.

Again, if you can help at all, please drop items off at the Chetwynd center reception between 10am & 2pm

According to the article in the Newsletter about this, other schools have chipped in and are providing them with what they need to tide them over, so doesn't look like the general public need to dip into there pockets

Indeed other schools are helping out, three Flash Ley classes are currently at Tllington Manor, but as the requests are going out on Stafford FM & via Facebook it seems they still need the items listed above....

The interesting question to ask is...

What if it was an Academy..?

Whilst it's good that schools, parents and volunteers rally around. It masks the issue what is the Local Authority responsible for education doing. If a secondary school was closed because of a disaster and 800 pupils had to be catered for could they cope?

I hope governors, school management and Staffs CC consider this.
