Ashiana?

Anyone been to the new restaurant opposite Halfords yet? I think it was called Ashiana, its where the Chill Bar used to be.

It looks very nice from the road, but I understand that its just the old Rose of Kashmir that has moved and re-branded. I have heard bad things about the Rose and so if thats the case, I won't be rushing to try it.

Yeah, its the Rose. Not used the place in ages, but it must be doing well. The old place doubled in size when they took over next door, and now they've got an even bigger place. If it was that bad, surely the customers wouldn't be there? Malabar is still the place to go though :)

damn didnt realise it was just the rose of kashmir was looking forward to another interesting curry house.

whilst the staff in the rose are very friendly their food is pretty drab stuff - for people who dont know their curries and want bland 'mc-korma's'. im sure they just use exactly the same sauce for every dish.

I've always had good times at the Rose - never a complaint, shame it's changed the name really - I'll certainly be giving it a go.

I'm sure I read on here somewhere that the curry sauces were watery and my girlfriend went way before I read that on here and she said the very same thing.

Would be interested to hear if anyone tries it out though.

the old place is going to be another ITALIAN so I've heard.
?

Surely if there is one thing Stafford could do with, it is a proper Italian! And by that I don't mean Bella Pasta, Pizza Express (which is good but pricey), or Franki & Benny's (New York Italian Diner, in Stafford ffs) I mean a proper, family run, staffed by Italians, Italian Restaurant, along the lines of the fabulous place up the main street in Stone which is the Canines Cahoonies! Well that's what I think! ;)

But is Franki and Benny's going to be rubbish? I imagine it to be a TFI Friday style drossfest...

I agree with the Seedmeister that we need a real Italian restaurant in this town, with paper-thin pizza bases, homemade gnocci (with a tomato and ricotta filling) and pukka tiramisu.

Frankie and Bennies are rubbish - really rubbish - rubbish by the standards of food you find on retail parks rubbish.

I thought that was going to be a Pizza Hut on the Hough??

I don't mind another Italian in Stafford - Hubby loves Pizza so anything that way inclined make him a happy bunny.

Spaggo's? Thought I saw a 'for rent' sign on it though?
Yeah it a chap from Lichfield, I worked with his Mum for a bit. We went there at the beginning of the year with my inlaws and they are hard to please as the dad-in-law used to be head chef at the savoy in London many moons ago. The food was excellent and couldn't fault it. We went back a few months later and it had gone slightly downhill but still ok. He attempted to make it more of a bistro as he wasn't getting the custom but it failed apparently. I spoke to his Mum a while back asking how spaggos was doing and she very quickly said that it had closed - a very touchy, nervy subject - think he lost shit loads of money. Perhaps he should have changed the name as the previous spaggos didn't always have a good rep.

Always thought "spaggos" was about the worst name possible - just sounded cheap and tasteless - which I'm assured it wasn't.
