That is not the case at all. The best you can hope for is that the petition will be looked at by an appropriate council official.

You are wrong. Just looked on their website. 1250 names and it can be debated at full council.
And on the front page of Newsletter recently was the chap who tried to get the Santa Parade back on and he only had a few hundred names but was allowed to present it and speak at their cabinet meeting. Also a public meeting.

This is the actual wording:

When you submit an ePetition to the Council it can have positive outcomes that lead to change and inform debate. It can bring an issue to the attention of the Council and show strong public approval or disapproval for something which the Council is doing. In response your petition will be considered and the Council may decide, for example, to change or review a policy, hold a public meeting or run a public consultation to gather more views on the issue but will not necessarily take the action asked for.

Note the use of the words 'can' and 'may'. Or it could disappear altogether.

But why are we disagreeing about where the survey is hosted? What a waste of time. As I wrote earlier:

Whatever the system used behind the petition, the choice is quite simple. If you are happy with the planning decision and potential loss of the hockey and cricket club, do nothing. If you think the decision unfair and damaging then sign. Simples.

Finally got time to write to Chris Baron regarding her actions to this application and asking for an explanation. I await her response.

Just look at the whole document in link Gramaisc pasted.
I think it is clear and with enough names is a good opportunity to get it on an official public agenda and debated by all councillors as this application did not even get to a planning committee.

To clarify for any interested parties;
The club's AGM takes place next Wednesday. At that point the present committee or a new committee will be elected in.

Once this has taken place a strategy will be devised. This will almost certainly be in the way of an appeal or new application. The beaconside situation has somewhat muddied the waters and complicated things for us. It has also put various organisations in a position they haven't been during the 14 months our application was in with planning. (this may help us, then again it may not). We have been promised that meetings are being arranged by NGBs, councils, Sport England etc etc. Therefore, we may keep our tinder dry for a month whilst these meetings take place.

The point of the petition is to raise awareness and get publicity and to apply help apply pressure to the councillors amongst others. We appreciate that that alone isn't going to solve our problems, but won't hinder solving them either.

FWIW, a number of councillors have already in the last week had a shock when confronted with what has happened and continues to happen in their organisation.

As previously stated, any support for our club from any angle would be greatly appreciated

cheers

In other (not so new) news (related to Leisure Department "Strategies" going well)

Did you all know that one of the 3 amateur football teams playing on Saturday afternoons has to play home games at Great Wyrley. This isn't wholly new to FC Stafford who were formally known as Riverway FC (and incidently originally set up by members of the cricket club). They moved there some years ago after becoming relatively successful and the FA and League telling them that Riverway wasn't suitable as the changing rooms were too far away. So after playing at Wyrley for some years the opportunity to return to Stafford was welcomed when the new 3G pitch Rowley park was unveiled. However, it now appears that this 3G pitch, based on league rules, is not big enough to accommodate competitive football at the level they play!?!? Therefore, off to Wyrley they've again had to trek.

Let that sink in....

SBC need to look up the dictionary definition of 'Strategy'.

At the moment it seems they can't even spell it, never mind know what it means and apply one.

Seriously...
Out of 5 cricket teams one has to play at Stone
Out of 9 mens/ladies hockey teams a certain percentage has to play at Stone (can't give exact figures as it changes). With the council wanting more of these teams to play at Stone because of pitch availability there. And in 18 months there won't be one hockey facility
Out of 3 amateur football teams, one has to play at Wyrley
All the athletic field sports can't perform within their dedicated area anymore at Rowley Park (and now it appears the 3G pitch isn't big enough for anything other than recreational and junior football)

This is Stafford, the county town!

Anyone resigned yet?

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
The 3G pitch at Rowley Park is a perfectly acceptable size at 98m x 67m and should be able to be used for all competitive matches except International matches (where the minimum size is 100m x 64m). Why the League where FC Stafford play deem this pitch to be too small I cannot understand.

You could, apparently, have a square pitch - this would help greatly with the 'muddy goalmouth' problem.
No you can't.

"The length of the touch line must be greater than the length of the goal line" as stated on the screenshot.

That's a shame. Would an inch do? Then you could practice the short way and not really notice the difference for the real matches.

But they have and they are having to play out of Stafford. So it appears not to be acceptable at that standard.(which isn't the highest). I would agree that it sounds odd and that a 98x67 sounds a reasonable sized pitch. Perhaps the run offs etc make it unsafe for league football??

Just clarified it with FC Stafford Chairman.
Pitch is 6m too small for West Midlands Div 1 and Premier league requirements/rules

In my view, the league shouldn't be specifying a minimum pitch dimensions which are larger than the minimum FIFA requirements but that is a completely different argument altogether.

Its their league I guess

Funnily enough we don't like the ECB telling us how big our second cricket pitch has to be either. Our league though couldn't care less within reason, After all, we just want to play cricket and they want us in the league....and that at present looks very unlikely in the long term
