No not me !

Just our ever non dependable Virgin/NTL service . Having used them for the last 7 months and had nothing but "issues" ( they can't even get the bill right!) amongst other things . We have given them the welly ! We have had their broadband service for about 5 yrs on and off and it's been great the rest in particular the telly is just goppin' ! and we miss the Sky+ a lot!

So wondering what everyones rec is for the three services , phone, telly and broadband is

Must haves

Git fast broadband ! 10/20MB min NO capped limit if poss

Decent telly with some kind of recording sky+ type thing

Ok phone thats not really that important to be honest

So whats the best out there and how do the services compare?

Am considering the sky package but only ever had the TV

all contributions and comments welcomed regarding service, customer services, and tech issues

We use a company called "Freedom To Surf" for our broadband. Only every had one issue with them but at least spoke to someone not in india who understood what the problem was. They are probably more expensive than the rest but worth it.

the only place you're going to get that kind of broadband (round here) is virgin, i'm afraid.. the fastest ADSL round these parts is "up to 8meg" - the key point there being "up to".. you're more likely to get speeds in the region of 2meg.. and the problem with almost all ADSL providers is they have crazy "acceptable use" policies which restrict your download limits..

i have friends on sky broadband (albeit not in stafford) who swear by it - and they are hardcore downloaders who regularly exceed the apparent limits set in their AUP.. sky only offer the 8meg package in stafford, but it's only a fiver on top of your TV package so it really is probably your best bet..

as for TV - you are never going to get as good as sky, imo.. the only real options are sky and virgin anyway (anyone who gets BT to provide their TV is a fool), so if you're sacking off virgin the decision is already made for you!

the version i've always heard is:

"I can't come into work today, I'm sick."
"How sick are you?"
"I'm in bed with my sister" :haw:

I've just used rich's link to check availability, and it says Your phone line can support download speeds between 8-16 Mb, the implication being that I can go for the Max package and get upto 16meg, and that was based on my phone number... :?:

Totally agree sky + is the nuts !..it is a really great piece of kit , never went wrong whilst we had it and would highly recommend. Your looking at 40hrs of TV on the entry level box which really is just a hard drive tv recorder like humax etc . Now from what I have heard you can with alittle bit of jiggery pokery change the HD to a larger one update the firmware and add an even larger capacity . Have never done it but from the on-line forums it doesn't look too hard. Will be experimenting with it if we decide to migrate back to sky .
