Rugby Club progress...

The truth the whole truth

Doh! Am I the only one who didn't know that Lord Sta£ford is actually president of the rugby club. Or is that just a rumour?

Come on now they will think this is me also , remember leave the man ,and the ball alone. Concentrate on the other things wrong with this application . Bullying has to stop on all forums, sites and Facebook it is a two way street .

Still nothing as yet from the Biodiversity Officer - one can but hope that he'll have taken heart from the robustness of SWT's response.

Does anybody know what sort of time frame we are operating under here? If it has not been 'called in', does that mean that there won't be a committee hearing as there was in times of yore? Would such a planning committee hearing be open to the public as it was in the time of our forefathers? Those sorts of questions?

Statutory consultees should respound within 21 days, however planning officers will consider late responses up until the determination date.

Different authorities have different procedures for taking applications to committee. I suspect this application will be taken back to committee because it is a major application and highly controversial. An application can go to committee if it's been called in or receives a certain number of objections.

Planning committees are open to the public and are minuted. Some authorities record their planning committees and televise them live. I'm not sure SBC do the latter but everyone is entitled to attend the committee and can register to speak for or against the application.

It was called in by the ward cllr, then that was withdrawn, after she'd been 'advised' otherwise. Then she called it in again. Then that was withdrawn. Then it was called in by another cllr.

Everyone welcome to attend planning committee pantomimes, sorry, meetings, but I think only one speaker is allowed from each side. The minutes used to be a complete joke, reducing what was said to a few sentences, but they can't get away with that now it's recorded (no video), although they do tend to have technical problems with sound loss at crucial moments.

Unless someone objects to being video recorded.
There was a spate of councillors around the country being caught playing games (Solitaire is particularly popular), checking emails, bank accounts, etc., during 'important' meetings, sometimes about making (other) people redundant.

Is it though? I mean it should be and all that, but is it actually an issue to folks outside of the forum/Farcebook/Twattersphere, who make up the vast majority of the population?

I am 99.9% sure that this application will be determined at a planning committee because it's a ,major application and (imo) highly controversial. An application will be taken to committee if receives a number of objections.

The Council have set procedures for taking applications to committee, I have cut and pasted these below:-

Applications decided by the Planning Committee (which used to be called Development Control Committee) include applications made by or on behalf of a Councillor or employee of the Borough Council, applications referred by the Head of Planning and Regeneration and applications ‘called-in’ to committee.

They can't object if they're in a public place, working for the public.
You can video a Council meeting in England - though, some people will tell you that you can't.

The Department for Communities and Local Government says,

Can I film the meeting?

Council meetings are public meetings. Elected representatives and council officers acting in the public sphere should expect to be held to account for their comments and votes in such meetings. The rules require councils to provide reasonable facilities for any member of the public to report on meetings. Councils should thus allow the filming of councillors and officers at meetings that are open to the public. The Data Protection Act does not prohibit such overt filming of public meetings. Councils may reasonably ask for the filming to be undertaken in such a way that it is not disruptive or distracting to the good order and conduct of the meeting. As a courtesy, attendees should be informed at the start of the meeting that it is being filmed; we recommend that those wanting to film liaise with council staff before the start of the meeting. The council should consider adopting a policy on the filming of members of the public speaking at a meeting, such as allowing those who actively object to being filmed not to be filmed, without undermining the broader transparency of the meeting.

Individuals may object to being included, but that can easily be addressed by seating arrangements.

I believe i had some choice words to say about this person the last time round - i'll see if i can find them...
... here they are -
The ward councillor, was particularly useless... - she insisted that a map be displayed while she gave her virtually incomprehensible ramblings on the matter, yet didn't even refer to it. When someone queried why it had been displayed, answer came that she had specifically asked for it to be, when asked why, answer came there none, not even from her. It was a map of a potential alternative site @ Burleyfields, a fact that i only realised later while looking through a related document at home. I cannot stress too highly how ineffectual this person was - she has brought shame not only on herself, but also to the voters of Doxey and Castletown, who must now be regarded as buffoons of the highest order if they thought voting for her was a good idea. For the record she was opposed - or at least i'm fairly sure she was, i'm not entirely convinced she knew where she was, let alone what she was doing.
- frankly, i'd rather have her outside the tent pissing in, as she would almost certainly just piss all over herself anyway.

Thanks for the answers, chaps, will try and keep an eye out for public hearing dates.

I would love to be a fly on the wall at that meeting. :)
You could be a person in a chair instead, with free coffee to boot. If the ^aforementioned Cllr is due to speak it's worth going just to see how truly dire she really is.

Enjoying a drop of red.

I had to look up who you were talking about as I'd never heard of her before. Then I realised that I'd met her at an event last month when I saw her picture. Underwhelmed doesn't even begin to describe it.

I'm also amazed that the good folk of Doxey and Castletown would elect a Conservative.
