Great offer Amazon - discount/freebies for reviews

Dunno about you, but I keep seeing reviews on amazon that state they received an item free/discounted for leaving a review. I assumed these were somehow chosen from people that reviewed lots of stuff, but I've since found out you can sign up to websites to register your interest. Has anyone else done this? I offered to review about 20 items for free/discounts and so far 4 have accepted me and about 10 have refused. As I have hardly any reviews at present on amazon I can understand why to be honest.

You need to sign up and tell them where your amazon profile is, then click the items you are interested in. Several hours later you should start to get some accept/reject messages. So far I've ordered a glass screen protector for my new phone for 99p (all delivered with prime, assume thats just cos I already have it though), a camping lantern for £2.99, a large microfibre towel for £4.20 and a head torch for £6.24. 3 of those orders were today, but the screen protector has already been delivered. I should note though that so far the big items, the expensive ones or those with huge discounts have eluded me. 2 in particular I would have liked I have received rejections on, I think I'll wait til I have a better profile to try again on stuff like that.

In return for the codes you just promise to post a review, and state that you received the item at a discount for the review. Be careful what you ask for though as some items don't seem that great a deal when you look at competitors!

I did this for a while but the novelty soon wore off for me, having said that you can get some good bargains and some people may like leaving reviews.
I found that herbal things and face masks for women were usually free or £1 at the most.

Managed to get some gigabit dual port powerline adapters for a tenner, which was nice. Also had a few microfibre towels for a quid or so, now I have a few reviews in I seem to get better stuff. There is a lot of crap on there though, a lot I wouldn't even buy at the 'discounted' rate!

Received a 15w solar panel yesterday:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01DIP5RBA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Obviously the sun was rather bright to say the least, set it up around 6:45 and plugged in an iphone 5 on 46% battery. An hour later we unplugged it, it was on 77%. It was also no longer in direct sunlight so not sure how much the voltage dropped because of that. Really impressed, got it on the windowsill at work charging my tablet and it seems as fast as the wall charger. And I got it for £6 :D

I have been thinking of getting one of these for traveling... how heavy are they?

Pretty light TBH, maybe 300g? Seems there are a lot of varying quality panels out there, this one claims an efficiency of 21.5~23.5% which is why you allegedly get 15w for the size. That 15w is at peak, in anything less than bright sunlight you get less. Most devices happily charge on 5w, some tablets need more. I personally wouldn't go lower than a 15w unless you were travelling in countries with better weather.

Great, I may give it a go and will let you know how I get on. Thanks for the tips.

Should probably stay away from this site in future, I've ordered about 45 things in a month! All things I asked for, and stupidly cheap, but even so......

Not wanting go off topic, where's the best bottle stuff available these days?

Depends what you drink I suppose. Sainsburys tend to be the best supermarket, and now have some chilled by the hot food counter (about £1.80 a bottle last time I was in, several Thatchers or Westons varieties). If you want to spend a bit more then the new pub in the market square sell take out, £4 a bottle though. I can certainly reccomend the gwatkins yarlington mill, and the perry or black fox from dunkertons.

Lidl's Vintage Reserve stuff is pretty good @ £1.29 for 568 Ml often marked down at £1.25. Avoid the cheapo 85p stuff it's too sweet and fizzy. They had some Westons down at £1.49 the other week. It's often worth a look to see what they've got.

I suspect its for 568ml - 568Ml might be a bit heavy for the trolley. :eng101:

It's like bad scrumpy. Fortunately a neighbour got one so I was able to try it before purchasing.

Just got offered a memory foam pillow for a quid, go on then! I'm very aware that the RRPs on most of these items is vastly inflated, bit of a theme on amazon lately.

Hope it's better than the one I bought, it has a chemical smell I can't get rid off, it's now working itself closer to the recycling bin, wouldn't have minded if it was only a quid but it was the most expensive thing I've bought in a while :(
