I really wish them well in this - although I wonder what having a curry will be like in Ashiana if there's a Thrash Metal band on underneath sound checking..

Went to opening night on Tuesday and I have high hopes for the place. Gig tickets already on sale, reasonably priced drinks, a good mix from the DJ and, for some reason, a magician.

just felt the need to resurrect this thread to urge anyone who hasn't already been, and likes a bit of alternative music, to give the Cellar Bar a go. Good relaxed atmosphere, well priced drinks, great owner, some great gigs coming up and Friday's ska and punk night is not to be missed!

Liking the idea of punk nights - do you have any specific info?

I have never been in the Cellar - I was an Attic person..

Ooo I hadn't heard about this. Might have to go check it out sometime, especially now the bunkers closed up in stoke.

The DJ is pretty amenable to playing requests, it's modern ska and punk, not a nostalgia night. 9pm to 3am.

Very cool if they're doing well enough to move into the town center - and bring back a much loved building into use.
