Henry Street has signs up promising a fortnight's closure from the 22nd of August.

Probably just the bit between Oxford Garden and Sandon Road, perhaps.....

Ohmy goodness there are lights by the station, when I thought traffic along bytes couldn't get any worse they put temporary lights up

Got caught at those yesterday teatime although I thought I got along past the college, park and Sainsbugs disproportionately faster. More than made up the minute or so I was delayed compared to the normal traffic along that stretch on a Friday.

Foregate Street at Grey Friars towards town closed, police / fire / work vans everywhere, not sure what is going on.

How nice routing traffic via Tillington Street -> Marsh Street -> Fancy Walk -> Albert Terrace -> Sandon Road to bypass.

Hard enough driving down Tillington Street in a car with the horrid bend... artic lorries now too! Madness.

BBC implies that is a collision by the Northern Lights chip shop (which doesn't fit with your description).

Thanks for that - I was just about head out that way.

Very little extra traffic noticeable on Sandon Road - less than normal, if anything, I would say.

It's at roundabout by Wagon & Houses, both lanes heading into town closed, work van is an Eon so likely street lamp repair, fire engine too which makes sense for collision and police trying to look busy.

Just looked on BBC website and A34 Stone Road at Walden Avenue junction too as you said Gramaisc, so possibly two incidents nearby.

It's a census survey with the police acting as traffic control

The census is asking drivers who park in the gym car park and next door McDonalds, the size of their penis

Henry Street now closed.

Eccleshall Road has one-way working, plus lights, to facilitate the obliteration of Creswell Manor. The signs say they are three-way lights, but I don't think they are.

Staffordshire Police · TRAFFIC ALERT: Abnormal load travelling into Stafford Tuesday 23 August Please be aware that a wide load will be travelling into Stafford from 9.30am tomorrow. It will begin its journey from Strongford (between Trentham and Tittensor) and travel along the A34 to Redhill Island. It will then travel along Beaconside, onto Weston Road, Lammascote/Queensway and finally Lichfield Road to its destination at Alstom. There are likely to be some delays as it travels its route, particularly around the Weston Road area due to an unrelated road closure/diversion on the A518 Weston Road between our Headquarters and the junction with Beaconside. Please avoid the area if possible or allow extra time for your journey. You can follow @RoadPolicing on Twitter for progress reports.

I have averted the occasional abnormal load in the past whilst circumnavigating the town on a dependable NSU Quickly.......

I am told that the road into Eccleshall from Stafford has re-opened.

The closure of the motorway bridge on the Eccleshall/Stone road is fairly imminent, though.

Oh no! What's the walking woman going to do?
I saw her only yesterday, she'll be OK, the Stafford/Eccleshall road has been walkable and will continue to be - it's the bridge over the motorway on the Eccleshall/Stone road that will be closed.
