Stafford 10K

StaffordBC Events

A few posts under my belt
The first ever Stafford 10K takes place on Sunday 25th September from 10.30am. To make sure that runners, residents and spectators experience a happy and safe event it's necessary to close some roads and manage traffic with temporary controls.

Would be great to see as many people as possible supporting in either the town centre, where there is entertainment from 10am, or along the route.

All details, including route maps and details of road and traffic controls can be found at www.stafford10K.com

Hi Gramaisc, yes it will be for hopefully no longer than an hour!
Any idea of the actual closure times (nearer the time will do) - the only highway access for those of us trapped by the Severn Trent barricade will be via the single lane between the parked cars on Oxford Gardens....?

We have estimated that it will be closed from between 10:30-11:40 but depending on race access we will give residents access as soon as we can!

Six miles to you + a bit short of another quarter of a mile.

It would depend upon how far you are from Seighford.

It was a fantastic event and I overheard a number of runners say how great the support was all the way around the course.

I think its absolutely fantastic that people of various abilities give up their time to raise money for amazing causes. I'm always most impressed by those individuals who find running a struggle but still manage to complete the course. I think everyone who took part in the 10k run was fantastic, however there was 1 man that I was particularly amazed by.

There was a group of people running in memory of Frederick Godwin - (I have no idea who this young boy is). On the front of the t-shirt there was a photo of (I assume) Frederick. At the back of the t-shirt there was the name of the runner, their relationship to Frederick and 'in memory of....'. Without wanting to be disrespectful to the group of runners they didn't appear to be the most athletic, however they all completed the run. As the runners were going passed I applauded their efforts until 1 man went passed me - Frederick's dad. Seeing Frederick's dad brought a tear to my eye and stopped me in my tracks!

I can't imagine anything worst than losing a child and I'm sure during every gruelling step that Frederick's dad took he thought of his son. I think Frederick's dad is amazing. An inspiration.

I'm sure the memory of Frederick will never be forgotten and I hope you raise loads of money to help the charity. I wish Frederick's dad and of his family my sincere condolences.

It might be an idea to get the "Beware Runners" signs down a bit quicker, before people get used to ignoring them.

So

10k

What's that in old money?

Seighford and back?
That would rather depend upon how far away from Seighford you were to begin with.

For reference i'm probably somewhere in the region of 5km further away from Seighford than you are - depending on where you are now, of course.

If you are currently nearer, then i am likely to be farther - if farther, then likely nearer.

Distance is indeed a slippery fish.
