Cllr Mark Heenan attended the meeting of the Castletown Residents' Association last week. We discussed the current situation and explained our near-despair to him. The latest from the County Council is that the process is moving along slower than had been hoped, so that the scheme is expected to be starting next summer. This lead the members of the CRA to decide on starting its own scheme whereby residents will soon be able to get a window sticker to put in their car in order to show that they are a resident. This won't make a huge difference, but it will show other residents that at least the owner of that vehicle also lives in Castletown. It has often been expressed by residents that if at least they know that a car belongs to other residents it makes a big difference. The CRA is currently looking into costing and distributing the stickers. Given that the railway station car park is set to close at the end of the month this scheme seems to be the best possible course for the time being.
