Christmas Shoe Box ideas please

I decided that as most of the boxes are made up by women ( I know that I shouldn't generalise but I don't know of many men that gather a shoe box, cover it with gift paper and then shop around for lovely things to fill it with for charity) ....anyway I thought that as most were filled by women then they generally filled them for other women or children and that the boys and men get left out.

With that in mind we have done some boxes for adult males but I want to do some more for the male 13 to 18 age group.

Apart from the obvious sweets and Chocolate, what might a teenager like?

I just have no idea what might appeal.

The ones that I have done in previous years have always gone overseas to various countries.

The ones that I am doing this year are for ALZEC vision (formerly the Migrant Empowerment Group).
There is going to be a party for refugees and asylum seekers in December and they want to give each guest a gift.

So what @Floss said is usually correct about no chocolate as it melts in transit when going to baking hot counties, on this occasion we can include chocolate as the boxes are only going to Wolverhamton.

If you want to do a box then perhaps ring your local school or church to see if they are doing them. I know that not everyone supports refugees but there are lots of other causes out there.

However if you would like to support the refugees then I would be happy to collect a box from you. It's been organised by Bednall Church and they need them by 23rd November.

If anyone else wants to do one let me know and I will include more details.

Signal Radio are doing a shoebox appeal for children abroad. They have a few drop off points in Stafford.

On that note Asda also have some mini table top basketball sets for a few quid!

The challenge with the boxes is that the collection of gifts have to fit in a shoebox.

So perhaps 10 things all going into a box.
One really needs a collection of men's shoe boxes as the ladies are too small to fit much in.

And then there is cost.

Do you do just one really gorgeous lovely box?
Will that make the other box openers jealous when they have a basic box?

Or do you do several basic boxes?

It's not as straightforward as it might seem.
