Where's good to eat on a Sunday afternoon?

As the title says. Want to take my girlfriend out on Sunday for a meal, has to be afternoon as she has other commitments from 5. I don't drive, so needs to be in Stafford. Was thinking the Castle Tavern, although its only Sunday roasts til the evening so may want a bit more variety. Any ideas?

Not been there in years, could be a plan. Anyone been recently? Will go see if I can find a website for them, get an idea of the food.

I go to Pastiche as and when I can. Still enjoy the food, decent prices too (even if one or two more are creeping onto the menu which require an extra £1.50/£2 etc).

Can't grumble at all. I usually can so I'd take it as a recommendation.

DENIED!! The Shitehorse...been there on a couple of occasions and not been happy. Last time I went was a couple of years ago on a Sunday, and I had a roast. When it arrived the meat looked like it had been sitting around for ages, and there was no stuffing! I asked the waitress whether there was any, and she went to ask the 'chef'. The reply from the kitchen was that they didn't have any....WTF?!? Just not cricket..

My mum and her friend went to Pastiche just after Xmas, and said the food was really really good. Do it.

Went to the shirehorse when it first opened and it was great, but been told over the last few years it got fairly crap. May go for Pastiche, can't really think of anywhere other than pubs for a Sunday afternoon really and I'd prefer a restaurant. Although I've not had a sunday roast in a fair while so the castle is still tempting!
