After all the fuss and objections that the good people of Baswich made when the chip shop opened years ago, I am surprised that they haven't made so much noise against the two new establishments.

We lived close to the chip shop back then and remember with some hilarity the hoo-ha it caused my neighbours. Their reaction when we refused to grasp a placard and protest at the shops one Saturday morning with the councilors was quite funny. NIMBY comes to mind...

I was glad when the chip shop opened. It meant that I didn't have to travel to Rising Brook or Dartmouth Street to get fish and chips.

The shops have always lacked a cafe and I think this would be a good addition to the area.

Exactly the same as when there was a pub there perhaps.

Times have changed - how many years is it since the Lynton Tavern was open?

Bear in mind this'll be underneath the flats too.

A few years ago they had problems with the teens congregating at an evening - which resulted in a Mosquito alarm being installed.

There had been a pub there for years which eventually closed because of lack of customers. Ironic that they they demolished the pub to build a co-op and are now turning the old co-op into a pub. If there notbrnough customers before, and there are no new houses in that area, I cannot see how the new pub (or "cafe bar") will survive once the novelty has worn off.

You really should have been named "LackofHopesDad".

It'll be open during the day as a cafe not just a pub. It should be able to attract more customers purely for that fact alone. The Crossbow/Lynton Tavern wasn't exactly a progressive, forward thinking place. Take a look at The Sun to see how Titanic Breweries run a place.

What do you suggest happen instead?
