bin men!

I am having some real issues with bin men, last week, i forgot to put my green bin out as I was poorly in bed that evening, at 8am next day I put it out, but they had already done the right side of my road. so i put it on the left.. they didn't take it.

Yesterday I put my recycle bin out, my next door nosey neighbour put it back before they had been, so i put it out again, this time, the right side because they hadn't come yet, it was about 930.. it was left, everyone elses was taken but mine, i think maybe because when they came around to do their "checks" it wasn't out thanks to my neighbour?

it is really annoying, I am luckly i have a brown bin i can use over winter to put my bin bags in because i am running out of room, as for my recycle stuff well its going to have to go in a black bin over the road thats for public use because i am fed up of keeping it indoors!

does anyone else have a problem with their bins not being emptied?

i've also had a problem previously that if my bin is a couple of inches to the right to much, they won't take it.

it goes in the same sodding truck!!!!!!

I am always good with my recycling and wash stuff out properly they are just being :bum:

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
The only time a bin wasn't emptied for me was when I completely filled the brown bin and the bin men decided it was too heavy to move. If it was too heavy to move, then I wouldn't have been able to move it. I rang the council and complained. It was emptied three days later.

I have never before heard of bins not being emptied because they are in the 'wrong' place.

Just call up the council and let them know. They'll get it emptied ASAP (they have done when ours has been missed anyway)

In general, they will take any 'properly presented' bin and, if they don't, for whatever reason, they will often leave an explanatory note on it, particularly on blue bins.

Bins may be collected any time after 7am, officially, though mine has gone before that, on occasion. Schedules will sometimes change, for many reasons, not the least of which is the current spate of roadworks, so relying on the 'normal timing' can result in disappointment,

Theoretically, your bin(s) should be 'placed at the curtilage', i.e.where your property adjoins the highway, though, obviously, most people arrange them on the footpath.

I've never had a bin refused - but my neighbours are serial transgressors with regular refusals and notes on their bins, particularly the blue.

For people with mobility issues, there is a system whereby they will collect, empty and return bins to an accessible area on the property, absolving residents from the need to move heavy bins - this works well, in my experience, though, there can be the odd missed collection.

Tell the nosey bastard next door not to move your bin - especially when it hasn't been emptied yet.

We've just moved house and the bin men are amazing!

We have restricted access to the house and the regular lorry can't get down, I've forgotten to put the bin out a couple of times and they come in and get it if I'm out, never had an issue with emptying here though I am much better with the recycling than I used to be.

OK so some of those drivers are idiots, though the bin men cause as much of the problem as some of the drivers, they're forever blocking the roads up at rush hour, if the councils look at their policy and bring them back to the depot or mandatory pull over - break time between 8.30 and 9 am and teach the drivers some manners, this would reduce frustration amongst drivers and the bin men and it would reduce the number of idiots taking risks as well.

Now I know the bin men are doing a job but it works both ways, if you expect drivers to shut up and put up, to sit an wait then the bin men need to show the same respect, make more of an effort to get to a point where vehicles can pass, not just those in front but also those behind, I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen the bin lorry block a lane up while there are people stuck behind, at rush hour and having passed a place they could pull in, then proceed to pass another bin lorry and stop for a chat with 15 cars backed up in either direction.

There is no real excuse for the driving on the video though before everyone is quick to jump on the defensive those drivers could have been stuck behind the wagon for 15 minutes getting the same f**k you attitude I have witnessed countless times from the Stafford area bin men, you get what you give in my opinion.

It's like shopping in Tesco when the online shoppers are picking, they block the isles up, have a chat amongst themselves, refuse to acknowledge or thank the somebody who has made an effort to let the uniform wearing staff past and heaven forbid you ask one of them a question about a product or expect them to allow the paying customer to be able to get to what they want without them having to wait, but just simply walk around with a look of distain for anyone who dare to get close to them.

.

When living in Stafford the council agreed that I could take my bin down to the footpath because if I left it where my property joined the path it would always be missed? Not everyone has property that adjoins the highway?

Indeed, and some people's curtliage is their front door step. Abiding by that rule would involve leaving the front door open and the bin in the house.

As with all rules, it's hard to write it so that it fits all circumstances.

People in Stoke have been fined for leaving their empty bins out on the footpath, I understand.

We've never had any problems getting our bins emptied. They're left out the previous night & are always taken but the times can vary quite a bit. The binmen do a great job in our street.
The twat next door has been having problems getting his green bin emptied (could have something to do with the recycling I've been putting in the top of his bin). Hopefully he'll get the message & stop obstructing my drive with his bin. Putting his emptied bin further along the street didn't work

Nah, I've already tried that but this way is much more fun. I've already had to threaten him. He's too thick to realise what's happening

Enjoying a drop of red.
Giving the amount of time that has passed since the initial post on this thread, I guess that you've managed to solve your issue.
Well he/she/it hasn't been on since the end of 2017, so I guess it will remain a mystery in the same vein as the Marie Celeste.

It looks like karenberys returned, as expected, to insert some pointless spam link, and has been removed.

I wonder who'll come back next?
