ASDA introducing Pay and display parking

@tek-monkey The problem with pay as you leave meters is that they are fair as everyone pays for what they use. As you know, the public are there to be fleeced so being fair isn't on the agenda.
As I assume SBC realised, so they dropped the idea to pay on exit on our car parks, with spaces info linked to new road signs. But not until they had wasted £1000s on the signs, that now simply read Full or Spaces.

Yet another reason why pay as you leave parking is better, everyone pays for what they use.
Still rounded-up to the nearest hour though. You can pay for 45 mins you don't need then they charge someone else again for the same 45 mins you've already paid for.

True, but surely better to pay for 45 minutes you haven't used than 2 hours you haven't used.

I don't understand the issue with that. So long as I only pay once I'm happy!!

they wouldn't give me my £1 back the other night only off my bill, i needed that £1 today to get something i forgot, well i went to co-op and ended up spending £30 in co-op all because asda wouldn't give me the £1 back as a physical pound.
since my purse got stolen i don't carry any money unless i really need to

Good! About time some rules were imposed on drivers in Stafford, cos none of the others seem to be; - speeding, running red lights, parking on double yellows, all daily occurrances sadly :(

I've been going to tesco since asda started charging for parking, I rarely have change on me so that's at least one customer the're now down.
Same here why they can't give you the physical pound coin back or allow you to pay by card / contactless. who wants to carry loads of loose change on the off chance?

Really?

running red lights, ignoring one way streets and no entry signs, bombing down pavements - daily occurrences for Stafford cyclists

I don't understand why some people find it so hard to leave a few pound coins in their purse/wallet/car for those occasions when you might need change.

My other half is also guilty of this by the way...he used to drive to work (goes on the train now).

Every morning he would ask me for change for the car park.....it was a daily surprise to him that he needed pound coins from Monday to Friday.
It used to drive me nuts.

Same here. As said before. I'd quite often pop in to grab lunch at 12..... not been since.. not got time to faff around to get a ticket... plus I'm not forcing myself to spend over a fiver just to get a pound back. Tesco is my new lunch visit.

I often pop in on the way to work in the morning (free before 09:00) and used to often call in again on the way home after work for odd bits and bobs but haven't been in after work since the charges came in. As @wildwood says I'm not going to spend a fiver just to get my quid back. Don't suppose they'll miss my odd couple of quid here and there in the great scheme of things.

We always keep £1.60 in the car for our trips to Sainsbury's. But Asda don't give you your £1 back in cash at the tills. You have to queue up at Customer Service, so you either have to wait in two (often long) queues or have to re-find change every time you go. Why go to the extra hassle when Tesco is free parking and Sainsbury's will refund at the till?

My sentiments entirely. Lidl and Aldi are free parking as well!
