I ♥ cryptic crosswords
M6 is currently closed southbound between 15 and 14 following a collision in which 5 people have been killed.
There are delays on the A34 southbound into town and on the A5013 eastbound into town.

i go past this stretch, northbound, every morning on my way to work, so saw the aftermath.. the scene of the RTC was completely fenced off, presumably to hide what sounds like appalling devistation :(

From the Stoke Sentinel:

Five people have died after an accident between a lorry and a car on the M6 in Stoke-on-Trent.

The accident happened at about 4.30am today. Five people have died and one person is critically injured.

The motorway is expected to remain closed for most of the morning.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "We are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision on the M6 in which five people have died and one person is critically injured.

The collision, which occurred at around 4.30am this morning, involved a lorry and a car.

"It happened on the southbound stretch of the M6 between J15 (Stoke South) and J14 (Stafford North).

"As a result of the collision that stretch of the motorway is closed and will be for some considerable time.

"Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

"A detailed investigation into the incident has begun."

Witnesses are asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 68 of May 24.

The stretch of the M6 southbound between J15 A500 (Stoke-On-Trent) and J14 A34 / A5013 Creswell Grove (Stafford North) is shut following the incident.

A diversion route is in place (follow the hollow triangles). Exit J15 to A500 eastbound, follow until the junction with the A34 at Hanford, take the exit to A34 southbound and continue to M6 J14.

Awful news! Apparently the driver has been arrested for dangerous driving, I think I heard that on Stafford FM, can't be quite sure though.

This is yet more awful news, leaving more devastated families. Just heartbreaking

Pictures of damage look like a heavy rear end shunt which presumably means the Micra was stationary or travelling slowly.

Accidents all over the place today... Truck has a massive shunt at j10 southbound of the m6 this evening causing massive delays with loads-a-wankers rubbernecking rather than driving through....

This week has brought the best and the worst out of people. From some of the heroic and genuine offers of help on Monday, to the amount of people moaning and bitching about "being held up" today while people lose their lives.

Enjoying a drop of red.

Both play equal parts in human nature.
