Stafford Traffic.

I thought's thats why they'd put a split puffin crossing in, so traffic could still turn left when cars are exiting Browning Street? Obviously not... Other places where a green arrow would be desirable is turning left into Tesco and turning right at the junction outside Stafford Leisure Centre. But, they don't think of these things in Stafford.
Split puffin? I prefer to call it spatchcock.

Been away for a fortnight and reading on current spotted that some roads in Stafford have been closed/ resurfaced etc.
Which ones are best avoided when I come back home tomorrow folks?

Frankly I can't see the point of the A34 surface dressing that was applied yesterday from the roundabout by The Shire Horse down to the traffic lights outside the new care home. What was wrong with the road as it was? Nothing. And now they're going to close the rest of the A34 probably this week up by Yarlet bank from Stone which is going to cause hours of drivers misery - for what?? For a rougher road surface that is going to chip their bonnets and wear their tyres out quicker. Why can't they do a decent job and create a smooth surface that will last for years rather than a half baked job. Then I wouldn't complain as much. There is nothing wrong with the A34 as it is!!

The section they did a couple of year ago between Creswell and Great Bridgeford is terrible.

Noticed they have used the surface dressing material to try and fill in a load of pothole in Norton Bridge a couple of weeks ago too.

This lovely hot weather will play havoc with the top dressing. Same thing happened a few years ago. They top dressed the A51 between Weston & Sandon. No sooner had the roadsweepers cleared the loose grit & the temperature shot up melting the tar with the loose, now sticky gravel flying everywhere & sticking to everything. The surface was diabolical for months after & ended up being completely resurfaced for a stretch. That bit is probably the smoothest in the county now.

Why have they picked the hottest day of the year to do this?? Absolute non-sensical!! Just like the week they opened the Riverside Shopping Complex, the heavens opened and flooded several of the shops!! They should have delayed the opening by at least a week!!!

OK, they have done a fairly competent effort on the road, by spraying a very fine layer of tar on top of the loose chippings, thereby sticking them together and creating a fairly high quality road surface. I've noticed them do this on a few roads last year, which is a better job than laying tar then laying loose chippings and brushing the rest away. Now, it is more like a loose chippings sandwich with tar on the top and bottom! Not as good as completely new road afresh, but better than I expected!! I hope they do the rest of the A34 like this, then the top layer won't wear away after about 6 months like it usually does.

I believe that Corporation Street may be closed next week, Weston Road to Prospect/Crooked Bridge Roads, for patching works.

It is closed on Sunday 2nd July for one day only. &.30 am onwards, from Weston road junction right the way down to Crooked Bridge Road junction.

I doubt they'll do it, but removing the speed humps along Corporation St will reduce the amount of wear which has definitely been increased by making vehicles adhere to a smaller area of the available width.

Temporary lights on Sandon Road - Henry Street to Charnley Road, whilst they fix what Severn Trent left after butchering the road.
