Car park by Waggon & Horses

For a small plot of land with no planning permission? I can't see a use for it TBH unless you could build, it's only of use to those that live there.
It is very useful as a car park. The struggling bed shop closes. They will convert the building (a former hotel) into apartments and sell them with the luxury of a private parking space. They can then charge far more for the flats than they could without parking. And with private parking the council would struggle to find a reason to reject the planning application to turn a run-down neglected building into apartments.

I'd have thought the land would have been offered up for normal sale though, to generate the most money possible?

I always assumed that it belonged to the W&H, apart from the highway section - but, I suppose, there will have been buildings there that went when the dual carriageway and the underpass were constructed, so they were probably CPOed and the subsequent availability of car parking was touted as a sweetener.

I was told the green in front of Tillington Hall Hotel was sold recently by the local authority to a house builder

Watch out for accidental tree felling

Particularly over a Bank Holiday Weekend

A tree did fall over there a year or two back - the others may have to be removed for safety reasons, as a result?

Indeed, i thought the buyers already had planning permission to build several houses there.....

If you put 30k in the bank how much interest would you get over 12 months? Say 1K? (dunno that's a guess)
If you take planning for houses or commercial premises out of the equation and just charged £1 per day for parking (say 15 spaces?) how much is that?

Plus as someone has stated, the value it adds to developing the existing bed centre into apartments (if that was one of the owners potential ideas) if parking is created, makes the land worth more than 30k

Like I said, if on the open market, it is surely worth more than 30k... and even if it isn't...it should still have appeared on Rightmove, if only to avoid threads like this

Also numerous parties were interested in buying it but always hit a brick wall trying to proceed

I believe the local councillor has been pressed on the matter and knows sweet fanny ann

Mind you, i'm sure there's nothing to see here so move along
