Did you book it online, @PeterD - are you on our mailing list? Only reason I ask is that we offer a complimentary bottle of fizz on anniversaries and birthdays if you are - if not DM me & I'll organise it for you as a fellow forumite - Happy Anniversary

Went to The Swan yesterday mid-afternoon, four of us sat outside and ordered a fair few cocktails.

After about 20 minutes the waitress emerged and said they'd run out of Malibu for the Pina Coladas and only had enough to make one! So we ordered different drinks and asked where the bar menus were. She said that they'd be putting the menus out at 5 o'clock as they were short-staffed and the restaurant was very busy.

I went back in at 5 and there was a 'Bar Snack Menu' with things like curry and chips, chipolatas and a dip and other small items. This on the day of the 10k run when the town was going to be busy was the only offering for bar food! We were quite hungry by now and needed proper food, so took our custom to Verso Lounge for some delicious food and a few more cocktails.

I have to say we expected better from The Swan, but sadly this experience hasn't been a one-off.

Nooshi,
Thanks for your feedback about Sunday I agree it’s unacceptable to run out of a basic like Malibu, our coffee shop and bar food was open earlier on Sunday to reflect the fact that it was the Srafford 10K but we did close at 5.30pm our normal closing time, however our brassiere offering our full menu was open as normal all day on Sunday offering plenty of proper food I’m sorry if we couldn’t accommodate your requirements.

Thanks for your reply. We just wanted to choose from the normal Bar Menu but it was just a snack menu. We were told that the main restaurant was extremely busy, so we thought that we had no chance of getting a table in there, otherwise we would have pereferred to stay at The Swan for food.

Had a lovely meal here. For me; spring rolls for starters and the Udon noodles for my main.

Others in the party of 4 enjoyed their meals also. All off the vegan menu. Highly recomended.

Only slight downside was that there was no diary-free butter/marg for the bread with the soup of the day.

The staff were great. Well done team Lewis!
