The Swedes have (allegedly) a process called döstädning - death cleaning - where you start to get rid of pointless stuff before somebody else has to do it for you.

Perhaps we all need to start...?
I'm not a hoarder (hubby is though) but started going through my own house again this week so that son hasn't eventually got such a horrible job . Think there was more stuff up in the loft than in the house.....might need a few skips at this rate! Keep finding old medicines and tablets in everything I open, going as far back as 1980 :o Keeping the local chemists busy whilst safely disposing of it all

Same here.
I'm not a hoarder but husband is.

I call it "junk", he calls it "treasured family memories".

The stuff in the loft from his deceased parents house is unbelievable.

I honestly don't think it's healthy for the mind, body and spirit to hang on to stuff that's not needed.

Even knowing that there is so much useles cr*p in the house interferes with my chakras.

Why do you need more than one chakra?

Who did you get the skip through? I've had 2 recently and service was top notch, both arrived by 10am max.
Cherry Hill. Not me who rang them to make the initial order , but confident the order was made correctly this end. I know mistakes do happen, but after my first call today enquiring where it was, would have though they'd have let us know they couldn't 'fit it in' after all later today . My second call resulted in another person informing it was on the worksheet for tomorrow now ...

Wish I dared to climb into our loft myself instead of relying on hubby. I need to sling stuff when he isn't there to fish it back out of the bin!

Hoping not to be met with an even bigger pile of rubbish in front of the house when I turn up in a bit :hmm:

And in the absence of their 'den ' in the chalet, hoping the squirrels haven't occupied any bags of junk They have ready - made play wheels in the old gerbil cages found in the loft. ( Along with an adults bicycle, boat oars , dining chairs ....)

I just had an involuntary twitch in my left wrist. It knocked a ⅔ full cup of coffee off the desk towards me. My right hand caught it without spilling a drop. All this happened before 'I' was even aware that anything was going on...

Filled a large skip and hardly made a dent in the pile.
Ordered another skip for tomorrow. Can see this being a daily event for many more days !

Got a question... Approx how much would you expect to pay for a new roof tile to be put in?

I'd keep it. You never know when you might need one.

Skip, Roof tile, or house ? (Or the tiling guy ..)

Might just pretend to move into the house myself (along with my son and his uni mates to use as a hang-out place ...) to annoy the neighbour ...she hates me

Might hunt around outside to see if I can see the missing roof tile (that was the one thing we didn't find in the loft!)

As well as the skip bloke, got 3 other people coming around to the house today as well. Watch them all turn up at the same time!

Got another full day of scrubbing and sorting ahead ......

As forecast, everyone turned up at once.

Had to leave the estate agent to his own devices while I sorted everyone else out.

Looks like something has hit and gone through the roof :o Hoping it doesn't rain too much til monday when it can be fixed ..... :hmm:

Managed to get the stairlift dismantled by the scrapman ...must be the hardest money he's earned ! Cost both me and him a hammer each, but 2 hours later he drove off happy with his collection and I now have a stairlift free staircase :) (Charities contacted didn't want our make, and one even wanted £120 to take it away!)

Got nothing but praise for the Cherry Hill skip man as well. Most helpful chap :)

Got absolutely soaked through filling the second skip.

Knackered tonight, resulting in many ciders to relax me :pint:

I have been on a diet for 6 years about a year and a half ago I decided to do it on my own. Over 18 months my weight increased by enough to get me down. So went back to the slimming club last night.

Always look on the bright side of life.
I shall try to remember your post if the little shits living next door scatter all the rubbish out of the bin and skip over the garden again! Spent hours tidying the garden up during the day so that it looked nice for the estate agent this weekend, then drove around later to catch them sprinting off when I pulled up and a right bloody mess :grr:

I aint a pushover like my late parents though, I have a short fuse ..... (And hubby won't always be there to diffuse the situation ! )

No wonder some kids are so bloody naughty these days. With parents thinking that sort of behaviour is amusing with a "boys will be boys..." :ohno:
