Very sad.

Having been at Newcastle Uni during the early-mid 1980s, I always felt a certain affinity with the Likely Lads. I even watched the "England F ...." episode a few weeks ago.

Wasn't he with Basil Brush as well? ETA It seems he was.

The feud was mentioned on "The Wright Stuff" this morning, and they went into a bit of detail (I wasn't even aware of it until yesterday).

Apropos to absolutely nothing, when I lived in London, I used to work with a guy who'd worked for the Beeb some years before, and had had Dick Clement or Ian la Frenais as his best man for one of his weddings. He said, as a best man he was absolutely useless ..... but when it came to the best man speech, it was the best ever.

The 'feud' has been widely discussed for many years, but almost always in the form of (very remote) hearsay.
