I attended today - and found that my drink was already on the bar by the time I got in from the car-park and a correct assessment of what I was going to choose from the remaining items on the Specials Menu had already been entered on the Kitchen Order Slip.

I do like the place there...always friendly and really decent food too.
My favourite establishment.

If you ever fancy a problem-solving task, try to establish the table numbering system. They all know where each table is, but they seem to be almost randomly scattered and quite a few numbers are missing from the system.

It will be interesting to see how any new locations in the 'pool room' are allocated.

Well, I cycled out here today and endured several life-threatening situations on the way - incipient hypothermia from the freezing gale, dehydration from the amount of fluids leaving my eyes and nostrils and being hit by an Audi - but, I had guessed right and the liver and onions was on, so I have nearly recovered now. Well worth the risks.

I also seem not to have received a puncture from all the hedge-flailings scattered all over the lanes.

Hit by an Audi? Are you okay?

I'm as OK as I was before - it was just being driven in an Audi-style, straight out of an entrance in the expectation that there would be nobody there.

If I had a brighter jacket, it would catch fire, but, then, I have never been hit by anybody that "couldn't see me" in reality..

The liver and onions has become almost a standard offering now, such is its popularity and, for the first time ever, I did not have it when it has been on offer. I had the steak and Guinness pie, which used to be my staple there.

I have been told, repeatedly, and by several sources, that their bread and butter pudding is the best. I don't really like it, but I eventually cracked and did try it today. I can say that it is definitely the least offensive bread and butter pudding that I have ever had, by far.

well, seeing as all the other greyhounds seem to be getting an airing of late, i thought i might as well mention another one!

went to the greyhound inn at burston on saturday for my ol' dear's birthday.. without question one of the finest meals i have had in a long, long time!

i had steak & ale pie, which came with the obligatory chips and peas.. the pie was divine - more like a stew with a puff pastry lid on top, rather than a stodgy shortcrust pastry effort.. everything about it was gorgeous - even the peas! lol.. i've never had peas that tasted so.. well.. pea-ey! lol..

the variety on offer was impressive.. there were 10 of us in total, having things like chicken tikka, ribs, lasagne, duck, etc.. every single one of us cleaned our plates and all commented on the unusually high standard of food.. really can't recommend it enough!
I meant to reply to @db a while ago, but forgot.

Arriving after a cycling foray out there last year, I was secreting my bike when a delivery arrived. Amongst the items being delivered were cardboard boxes that proclaimed that they contained "Fancy Peas". No other information was visible and nobody has ever been able to explain exactly what that means. However, the peas remain to the same standard today.

It has come to my attention that I am under regular, almost constant, surveillance by an organisation of Spaniels.

Was Pippa actually serving the whisky?

I know someone who would be very interested in the possibility of training a spaniel to pour a whisky.
Yes - and offering tasting notes, whilst scrutinising new customers from a security angle.

I would worry that there could be some potential for mutual leading astray...

Glad the Guinness is good, unfortunately on my first visit for sometime this week the food was a massive disappointment and the decor needs an overhaul.
