Myself, the vicarette and the lady church warden have just spent 3 hours in church putting up the Christmas Tree.

Half an hour was spent putting up the tree and decorating it.
The other two and a half hours were spent untangling the lights.

All done now though.

If your building work (eek!) involves an electrician, he might be able to provide you with some empty reels on which to wind the lights when they are removed - it'll make next year a bit easier..

We already had a strong bit of cardboard to wrap the lights round.
Unfortunately whoever took them down got two sets of lights and just threw them in a bag without separating them.
Also the new decorations that I'd bought had just been chucked in a box (not wrapped in tissue or bubble wrap), so quite a few were smashed.

And don't mention the electrician (who worked for Mark Jackson) because that's another story again.

This sort are quite handy - and free. They can easily be written on and cut down to reduce storage issues, if they are over-sized.

You can cut a slot in the outer edge to 'trap' the loose end of the cable, too.

Once the festive season is over, just do this and store away until the following Christmas. It'll give you more time to enjoy your 25% discounted drinks this year and any subsequent years.

I was relieved to find I'd put my little christmas tree back in it's box complete with decs and lights still on. My big tree is stored in 2 halves though, so pity I can't do the same with that. Did come in useful wrapping it upfor storage in the windscreen cover that I'd never used for years. Forgot it was wrapped in that until I took it out.

Just found out sons christmas eve schedule ....looks like I'll be seeing :santa: on his rounds as I go to fetch him.

It's a funny day today, Spawn3's school is open today but not till 10. Transport will be here by 9 instead of by 8am so I'm struggling to get into my stride. We are ready a bit early though so baby wombats on YouTube it is lol.
I hope @Lucy got home ok after the braving the elements to come pick up her sloth. Thanks for coming :D

Thanks for the sloth! The roads weren't too bad actually.

My boiler stopped working yesterday morning, I can only assume the oil froze. All back to normal last night, although the house never warmed up properly.

Wishing I had crossed my legs and carried on...struggled across a treacherous frankkey services to the loo. Got to get back to the car somehow. Struggled to keep on my feet .

In true Blue Peter style I use an old card box, cut out each side making a number H shapes to wrap various strings of fairy lights around or tinsel. Puncture one of the sides and wedge the detachable plug in so it doesn't get lost. Cheap and cheerful and one less trip to the tip with a box.

Just by accident I seem to have stumbled on a cure for my Xmas cold (or is it Manchester flu after Sunday?)......mulled cider.

Can't really taste it much but it's clearing my nose and head (well at least for the time being).

I shall have to sample a couple more purely for medicinal purposes of course.
I tried mulled cider for the first time last week in Worcester christmas market. Tasted horrible, but then their cold still and sparkling versions of the same stuff (Barbourne local cider ) didn't get me buying any either

Hoping the snow that's falling quite thickly at the moment hurries up and stops! It's sticking on my patio.Got quite a few hours yet til our 2.30am start. Might be taking longer to get to the airport than I was expecting. :hmm:

My 'reliable' weather forecast has let me down this time, reckons we have moderate-light sleet . This deffo isn't sleet that's settling on the drive :(
