I haven't. You'd be amazed what you can buy online, and in Poundland these days ;) ;)
WARNING OLD JOKE ALERT!
A woman goes into a sex shop and asks for a sex toy. "Certainly Madam, as you see they come in all colours, shapes and sizes." said the shop owner pointing to the shelves behind him.
"I'll have the large tartan one." said the woman.
"Sorry Madam, That's my Thermos Flask!" replied the shop owner.

Didn't know you could put batteries in a Thermos flask :)

Cinemas normally open either at Easter or December when the big blockbuster films are released eg. Star Wars 15th December, so I’d be surprised if they didn’t wait until after the Christmas rush if your rumour has any truth

The cinema is closing in December. I rang to enquire about times for the new star wars film for my sons birthday and they said they weren't showing it as the cinema was closing. Seems like a missed opportunity as the new cinema isn't ready yet.

Wouldn't surprise me if true, they had very little in terms of snacks when I went a few weeks ago, and the tango machines had already been removed, but the paper suggested there was still active talks from two parties keeping it as a cinema.

So looks like the casino plan fell through.

Sorry didn’t realise there was a cinema thread when I posted in the closures thread. Cinema closes 17th (next Sunday). It’s only showing Star Wars in all screens.

No loss there then.

Except if you don't drive :(
There's an Odeon just round the corner from Birmingham New Street - probably the easiest cinema to get to without a car for major films or the Film theater at Staffs uni in Stoke-on-trent on College Rd for art house stuff. The Lighthouse in Wolverhampton does a good mix of things too and is eady to get to from the train.

If your 101ing it up to Hanley there's a vue cinema in the latest addon to The Potteries shopping center.

It's a cineworld and surprisingly good value. Its where we usually go. Proper seats where the base doesn't spring back when you get up :)

Small cinemas though and very expensive for big new releases. Was over a tenner when first opened but soon came down. If you don't get to cineworld early, anything but a poor angle from just off centre to the sides is not a good view.

First 3 rows also to close you look up and have to move head left and right if dead centre. Nice feel but most seating layouts poor for price, vue better but they charge £1.50 to book online odeon - sticky icky

Seating at Cineworld is fine, you just make sure you book the seats you want...

The only thing that will possibly stop me from going to the new cinema is not being able to choose your seats in advance....

But the screens are so small at cineworld that the option for a good range of seating is seriously dimenished.

Not great if you go almost on the spur of the moment

I think the chances are you're going to be disappointed with the new Odeon then given the capacities for the screens they've announced...

Been to Cineworld in Stoke 10-15 times and at no point though the screens were small...

Capacity won't matter at the new cinema if they go for comfort/experience over cramming people in. They have to do something to get people going again vs just downloading so improving the experience would be a great start. Said it before but VUE in newcastle is excellent with the new large seats.
