Leave or Remain?

I was against it from the outset but if we are going to do it then we need to go full Singapore. The first phase would be to eliminate the welfare state and privatise the NHS. Phase 2 would be to scrap the minimum wage, living wage and employment rights such as the sick pay. Given these conditions a few will prosper and the national GDP may well be significantly higher, the GDP per head which is more meaningful measure of who benefits would through the floor, but who cares.

Once we have no welfare state and no NHS then we would also soon have a lot less heads to count GDP against, winner!

I vision of Eutopia, no doubt.

I'm going to Krakow tomorrow for a few days, and with it being in Poland, I'm expecting great things of their plumbing, so much so that their plumbers having found so little to do in their own country, have had to ply their trade in the UK and other countries. We shall see.

I've done a bit of plumbing in Prague and found it to be much easier than attempting the same sort of thing here. I was also very impressed by the practical, common-sense approach to roof structures, which was a huge improvement over the usual set-up here.

If we are overrun with plumbers why aren't plumbers cheaper?

I'm not really saying that we're overrun with plumbers; just that Poland may have been.

But the general point I'm making is that it's a shame when people (and I'm thinking mainly doctors and medical staff) have to leave their own country (which may have pretty poor health provisions) to live and work elsewhere instead of contributing to their own country. OK, they may send money "home" to wives and family .... but with that money being spent in their own country and contributing to their own welfare state through their own equivalent to VAT, that rather negates some of the "well they pay taxes in this country anyway" argument.

I'm aware of just one from probably several (students who I know as players rather than what they're studying .... but only one has said "F*ck it ..... I'm off.").

Man, I love the internet.

Twenty minutes and you can go from *that would look great on a bus* to finding an image generator and putting it on the side of a bus.

Shame it isn't white text, but kudos to the internet fairies all the same.

I saw him this very evening - on the telly, like, not in that there London - accept the assurance - he spoke! i saw it with my own ears! - that the current administration could be held to their word.

His intervention essentially amounted to little more than 'now come on, you're not just going to say you'll give us any kind of say, but then do exactly not that are you?' - to which probity he was given 'assurances' as to the good faith of the Government.

And why would you not accept the 'assurances' of the current administration?

If this week has taught us nothing else, it is that our 'team' in Brussels can be relied on to tell the truth, the whole truth, and etc

You know like when Groucho made the quip something along the lines of that 'I wouldn't want to be a member of a club that would have someone like ME as a member'? I now feel that way about our membership - i feel that the European Union can do better.

Like an abused partner escaping an abusive relationship i feel the EU will be the better for it.

We have disgraced ourselves, and it will take some time to re-establish our bona fides.

Wash your mouth out. We are the UK we don’t believe in unions or protecting members interests. We proved unions that looks after their members interests were only for the feeble minded when Thatcher broke them.
We knew then that manufacturing and traditional industries were doomed and that services were the future and so the conservatives pressed ahead with and forged the single market. The largest most prosperous market in the world which includes services.
Now our glorious leaders have realised that our 80% service based economy is as perilous as our manufacturing was. We need to embrace WTO to destroy this sector as well. Rejoice and embrace the opportunities which await you, I’m sure a true believer will be along soon and point out all the opportunities.
