Stafford shops opening - Turning into a boom town?

Enjoying a drop of red.
I've still got an Attwood's key fob.
Dad got a Riley Kestrel 1300 from Attwoods. That was a nice car, at the time.

I got my first ever new car from Bunning's Honda dealership. Treated myself to a Honda CRX to celebrate my first promotion in 1990.

The day I arrived to collect it, the exhaust dropped off the Citroën GSA I was part exchanging and I arrived on the forecourt making the kind of noise a modern day chav in a Corsa would positively salivate over.

Dennis just laughed his head off and never made any fuss about it at all. He was a nice guy.

Between that and the 4x4 place wasting the good unit left by F&Bs over in The Hough, we're not going to be able to move for dealerships soon.

Antiquated business model, I look forward to the day when manufacturers just deal direct. £3k markup on a £10k trade-price used car? No thank you.

I have heard that the site owner has car dealerships I Wolverhampton and is considering opening a specialist Suberu outlet on the island and some of the units have been told to vacate to create space by the land owner. How true this is will remain to be seen...

Yes. I have been told from a trader that Dibba will be moving eco motors from the site. Dennis Bunnings grandson is going to open the new dealership there.

That's the name I heard Feed the Goat but didn't want to be specific. Maybe info is more correct than I believed possible.

Remember Attwoods being one of the last garages that served you and had a windy up thing on the pump...

I helped to transport a W.W 2. Ford engine based generator from that Rediffusion building to their new main base in Co-operative St. Loaded onto a low 4 wheeled trolley and pushed all the way. It remained there for some years. It was hand cranked and they had a routine starting every so often. I was called at least once a year to sort it out when the routine start failed. It was eventually replaced with an up to date self starting model not long before they closed.

I thought The Island had been earmarked for the new bus terminus, maybe that's 10 years away.....

Here Here, we don't need more car dealers. Next we will be getting more charity shops.

Has there been any update on the progress of McDonald's coming to kingsmead next to Aldi, where the morrisons petrol station was meant to be?

Oh is that what they're doing there now? Saw some digging going on.

Where's @Wormella and her excellent perusing of the Stafford planning permissions store?
