Really?

No prices and a mobile number. No indication whether the correct Business Rates are being paid, no proof of exactly what makes it "secure"

I can answer a couple of your questions
There is a gate in place at the entrance to Stafford Cricket & Hockey Club on Riverway that is secured by a code.
The clubhouse at SCHC isn't open 24/7/365 therefore the contact number is for a member of the club's management committee who will be able to respond to enquiries even when the club is closed
Hope that helps

Thankyou Really? for your input. Prices are on application when you ring the mobile number. You are more than welcome to DM for a landline and/or an email address if you are worried that a mobile number doesn't meet any communication standards. The "secure" element is fenced and a padlocked gate. And rates, we would exect the taxman will inevitably get his cut, if applicable, especially with concerned members of the public like your good self

I think Really was really trying to say

"hi, great idea, as you know as a Stafford based retailer I support the town and additional competitively priced car parking would be great. Might be better if you gave more contact info on your flyer, after all, who likes mobile phones, sounds like those white vans offering facia repairs (you know the type) **lols** ;)
And also being secure ? It adds to the interest that customers receive security, but are you sure its secure ? Also just a warning if you're a bit green, you may be going into the realms of revenue enforcement taking an interest. I know all about rates, its not fair, we're all trying to make a living, but better to have your eyes open huh"

To which everyone would have gone fair play pal nice one

Therefore, why the tone of the post?

Apologies from us lot. There are now 2 parking threads at the top of the charts. That could probably have been avoided

The other one is just general issues, this remains specifically about your proposal.

You just reminded me of what I had seen going on this afternoon...

I do wonder about the seven minutes - that's fairly striding out - I presume somebody timed it - where does the 'town centre' commence?

It's about 20 mins from St Leonard's to the station so 7 to 10 mins from the hockey club to the Sun by a reasonably fit hockey or cricket player would be about right wouldn't it?

Will there be a fitness test, before your permit is issued? I do hope so.

I was just basing it on my "how long to walk between the old and the new M&S sites" experiment.

I think seven is a bit of a target.

Town centre starts at Smile Style obviously :shifty:

We were looking at the first group of businesses that we were targeting at Riverside walking down the river.....(in a speed boat)

I am led to believe there will be two tests both related to hockey. The one in the summer involves controlling a jolly hockey ball and stick from the club to town in 7 mins and the winter one skating a puk along the frozen Sow to town in the same time.

There of course be the obstacle of avoiding the police patrol outside RBS and overconfusing traffic signs to overcome :)

If the river canal link at Baswich happens, what better place than Riverway for a staging and toll point to enter the town via the river sow. A new wharf and restaurant, maybe a hotel. The Venice of the midlands

Only a matter of time before people are calling Venice the Stafford of the Adriatic.
