New contractor is operating as "Bin Police" I have seen several un emptied bins exhibiting a tag with tick box reasons for non collection. IE "bagged re-cycling " (A black bag in the blue caddy) Items in wrong bin etc.

I thought we had a new bin man for the last collection two weeks ago, as all the bins were put back in sensible positions, where they had come from, and not shoved haphazardly wherever the guy felt like throwing them, blocking the pavement or outside a neighbours house.....

But no, we are back to the traditional “I’m doing as little manual graft as I possibly can” bin shoving system this week.

And no, it is not because they are in a great hurry: the guy stands next to each bin and waits for the truck to pull level, then drags it out, hooks it on, and finally shoves it back roughly in the direction he retrieved it from.

With the pavement parking cretins, and the random bin return, I dread the day I am elderly and infirm and need to navigate the pavements of the town on foot....

Our blue bins were emptied on Monday, and there are 2 still up the top of our driveway , my lazy neighbours can't be @arsed to take them back . The other lazy neighbour will be moaning hers wasn't emptied..she was too lazy to put hers out yet again!

As they should, it is not difficult to put the right rubbish in the right bin. I understood if they take recycling that has none recyclables it simply goes to landfill.

Whether that has changed with the contractors i do not know

I have had a huge problem with the bins today.

They put them back so neatly that I assumed that they hadn't been emptied when I returned, just before it started raining, so I left them out.

I now realise that they are actually empty and I will have to go out in the wet to get them in.

There will be a stiff email to the council about this!

Indeed - I missed out on winning the 'who can get the bins in first' competition* - I was certain that I heard the bin lorry, but when I looked outside the bin hadnt moved, so I just left it there....a win for nextdoor this week...

*Myself & my next door neighbours share a front path, we always bring our own bin & the neighbours back down the path usually as SOON** as its emptied, sometimes she wins, sometimes I do :)

**Other neighbours have a competition to leave their bins out for as many days as possible!

I used to take all the bins in our little corner back to their houses from the top of the driveway where they are left , whilst getting mine back in as soon as it's emptied. Then the bin-day when hubby was rushed into hospital, I returned home after midnight to find just mine left at the top of the driveway. So since then have thought sod everyone elses!

Has anyone else had a new bin calendar yet? Usually had one by now, but just had a letter through ages ago with bank holiday collection changes.

No new calendars yet. The last one finished at the end of January and had a note on it saying that we would get a new one before it ended. No sign, so far.

I was checking the dates of the Amenity Lorry visits that the yokels get - the online calendar ends on Saturday, although it has a record of previous years' visits, if you want to take a guess about the future.

There is a hint of a DHL/KFC style 'improvement in service' about it all, although, from our point of view, it is all still working.

Bin collections in Weeping Cross /Baswich are tomorrow (Saturday) rather than Monday.

I haven't had a calendar either. I check the dates online.

I believe that nobody has had a new collection calendar, the implication was that the collection days would be changing, but nothing has happened.

The last time that I dealt with an amenity lorry collection, the driver came from the South Staffs refuse system, rather than the new Veolia organisation that are supposed to do ours.

I just put my next bin to the front of the line once the other one has been emptied. I've just carried on writing G or B/B on my normal calendar , assuming it's going to carry on in the same pattern as it has been.

My neighbour never knows which bin it is, and doesn't put any out most of the time. Then she will see a whole line of blue bins at the top of the drive, whole street of blue bins, and put her green one out.

My blue bin's sitting waiting to go up later tonight, after it's been topped up with tonights cider cans :)

I can pinpoint where the refuse cart is , the sounds of breaking wine and spirits bottles gives it away every time :P
There was a party a few doors up from me once, her blue bin was full to the top with 100% glass bottles. After it had been tipped in, with a great amount of sound, the bin-men gave a round of applause and saluted the house.

How do I edit this?
I'm just curious - is there any response when other people dump stuff in your bin?

I've just opened my recycling to find it brim full with the packaging for a cooker that definitely wasn't installed at my house. Hopefully it might get taken next collection, but just in case it isn't is my only option to drive it to the tip myself?
