Local Businessman, Stafford Rangers Club President and all round Top Bloke, Jon Downing has had MND for a couple of years and is still determined to do all he can to help charities and people.

Together with some very good people, he has organised a charity game in aid of MND, Katharine House and the Club's Car Park upgrade - something he is determined to deal with and see through.

The game brings together some old Rangers faces, with a lot of the 2006 Conference North play-off wining team, plus members of various sides before and after that.

A great event for local fans or even backers of local charities. Programmes can be bought in advance by contacting the office on 01785 602431 or visiting Downings Waste.

Alternatively you can turn up and pay £5 on the day.

Yes. From Jon, thanks to everyone who turned up, donated or bought a programme without attending the game. Last year's game raised £1,300. This year £2,400 had been raised up to the final whistle with more to come in via donations and some auction items. Some real determination from Chris Curtis that next year will better this year.
People still don't realise what a great cub and a great draw it is. Players came back and paid to play in the game to boost the coffers, with JD being an inspirational fella!

True, Tilly.
He fought long and hard whilst being as active as he could.
This very match thread should be revisited each year when the legacy that is "The Jon Downing MND Fund Raising Game" comes around.
Alan Gee will be on Radio Stoke at 6.45 tonight, to speak about the thoughts of the fans, regarding Jon's passing.
