Here at Signpost we encourage upcycling and refurbishment, and reducing waste.
We have a team of skilled volunteers who currently accept donations of old and unwanted electronics, computers, monitors, etc. Items are scrutinised and refurbished where possible, and the majority are reissued to other charities and individuals for free, who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it, although in some cases we do offer valuable items for resale, the profits of which we use to fund current and upcoming community projects.
Items we don't use ultimately end up as waste, however we still appreciate the opportunity to pick through anything of use before that point.
We've given away full desktop computer systems to many local charities and community groups, and up until recently we had a very steady supply of waste / surplus from a few local schools and businesses, however these have dropped off.
We're keen to hear from local people who could potentially offer us a regular source of items, or even one - off donations of unused laptops, desktops, parts, audio equipment, TV's, old bags of cables and mains adapters, etc. Pretty much anything goes, as items we can't fully refurbish can be stripped of useful parts such as fuses, capacitors, potentiometers and the like, to aid us repairing common faults on any future items.
If you'd like to know more or have anything to offer, or perhaps you know of somebody in need who we could assist once we've collated a new stock of parts, you can contact us via our website or facebook page, or by email, or on 01785 223860
