Well ok. The post i replied to was basicly saying that anyone concerned with immigration ( just one string to the EU's bow) and its affect on multiple aspects of society can be branded as a racist, xenophobe blah blah blah. Its lazy and implies that 52% of the country voted to leave the EU because they are racist. Its a classic tactic impregnated into the minds of the public by the remain clowns who were hoping to pressure people into voting their way to prove they werent racist etc etc. Incase you didnt get it, the image is a jibe at such claims. Also note how he throws the word "extremist" along side right wing as a further barb, and to lump those who dont have the same opinion as akin to terrorists.

I more meant my own post, what that we did 40 years ago are we now going to go back to doing, that we are better and more affordable at than other countries now that tariffs will apply for our exports to our historic main customers? What new markets are now open that will be cheaper the EU trade deals, and which of those exist where transport costs are not inhibitive?

I happen to own a couple of chomskys books. Ive tried to get my friends to read some of his work but to no avail.

What, like the right portrays Corbyn?

I happen to like corbyn but he does have some dubious links you must admit. Its just a shame hes not on the same page as me on on certain core issues (mainly traditional labour policies) or id love him in charge. If hed come more to the right and shift the overton window more this way maybe we can do a deal.

He's central compared to most countries, if he moved more right I'd lose interest in labour completely. Last thing we want is another Blair. As for dubious links, not sure I get you? He was just more open in Northern Ireland when thatcher was doing things in the shadows, and as far as Palestine goes I'm with him 100%.

Theres no need to worry. The EU is going to collapse sooner rather than later. With anti immigration and anti EU parties having been elected in Italy, Austria, Hungary and a couple of others and the growing anti immigration and anti EU sentiment in germany and sweden its only a matter of time until this doomed experiment draws to its obviously forseeable conclusuion. Then normality can resume.
Hi captainpish, i'd just like to say how grateful i am that finally we have a 'Leave' perspective. It would obviously appear you are a bit outnumbered, but i hope that doesn't dishearten you.

Rather than get too bogged down in the nitty-gritty, i'd like to touch on one thing from the ^above.

The idea that the EU is some sort of Utopian experiment doomed to failure is a rich seam that runs through this discourse. It has always struck me as an extraordinary position to take against - Churchill argued, post-war, that some sort of European Union would be a necessary outcome of the last conflict, for example. Quite a Utopian proposition, really, in the circumstances.

Whether he would have looked upon the current set-up with unconditional admiration is very much open to debate, but the attempt has its merits, does it not?

So...
And what is that normality exactly?
Well it used to be war didn't it?

Is this not something that concerns you?

Do you think that a return to nucleated States acting within narrow National self-interest is somehow a better outcome than what has been achieved thus far?

You say...

Normality is what comes afterwards...
... without really putting much meat on the bones of your alternative.

I would be very much interested to hear your thoughts.

One half wondered whether the World Cup might give us some kind of indication as to whether we're still any good at fighting.

You know, at entry level, that sort of thing.

Plenty of time yet, amazingly we're only half the way through. I don't anticipate an overly extended excursion on England's part, and Putin seems to be running a tight ship.

Nah, apparently this is called project fear, in reality a magic money tree will be planted in everyones garden and each town will receive a goose that shits golden eggs.

I think Professor Brian Cox has summed up neatly with his tweet a couple of days ago:

Leave or remain or not bothered, I don’t think brexit is about voters anymore. The government are blatantly, in plain sight, searching exclusively for a form of words or deal that does not fracture the Conservative Party. Or at least that’s my feeling. Does anybody disagree?
