Bins!

Well green bin time seems to have moved from 06:50 to 10:30 on its first collection on the new day.

Next week I should find out at what time the blue and brown bins will be emptied.

Oh to live in such exciting times. Future generations will look at us in envy, that we were lucky enough to live through bin changeover month. We shall not see their like again.

Our bins didn't get emptied due to a 'technical problem' with the vehicle. Funny how that problem didn't stop them emptying the bins on all the roads around us, two of which are accessed via our road.

I smell bullshit.

Green bin finally emptied four days later than it should have been.

Rang the council twice about non-emptying and intimated that their new contractors were being economical with the truth about why our bins weren't emptied when they should have been. Nowt will get done about it though.

I can see all our brown bins not being emptied next collection day, just for them to prove a point. All our bins have to be left lined up down the side of the top part of shared driveway, as we don't have any pavement at the top of it which isn't used to access the driveways.
With most of the 5 houses having 2 blue and brown recycling bins each (except for me...) it makes for a massive line of bins, but they all fit nicely down the side of the tree lined drive. They have always been collected from there, and up until this last collection put back again.

The blue bin men continued as they have always done, returning the bins to where they had been collected from.

This time the brown bin lorry men were having a discussion at the top of the drive whilst emptying the bins, then lined them all up on the pavement blocking the driveway access as if to say "This is where you should put them next time!" Bloody idiots ! I had to move them all , whilst bringing mine back in, before everyone started returning from work in their cars.

We all forgot to put ours out last night and then came at 7am. Cue mad dash up and down the street

First blue bin day of the new regime and no collection. Not impressed especially having had an extra weeks worth of recycling due to the change, bin is overflowing with cider bottles.

Hope our green bins are emptied tomorrow, after well over 3 weeks due to the calendar change.
First time I've ever seen maggots in it, despite double bagging everything.
I recycle as much as I can, but with eating lots of fresh fruit, salad & veg it's got mostly rotting peelings.

Surely peelings should go in the brown bin?
The brown bin rules used to say "no peelings", though that seems have gone now.

I suppose the actual idea was that they should be composted, but it did look a bit bizarre. It did say that windfalls were OK, but it might make you wonder if you had to peel them...

There were a few other weirdnesses - like saying that you should take the lids off plastic milk bottles to let the vacuums out...
