Mac mail to Outlook help required

I'm hoping this post will find someone who is familiar with Apple Mac mail and Microsoft Outlook.

I use Mac Mail and my emails are always accompanied by an HTML email signature.

It has been brought to my attention by people who use Outlook, that when I send an email with an attachment and email signature, Outlook doesn't properly display the email. I was wondering if anyone else experiences this issue and do they know a workaround?

My current workaround is to remove my signature on emails with attachments, or go directly to my online mail client and send the email from there with an attachment and signature. Both workarounds aren't ideal and I can't believe these are my only options.

If anyone can help me I'd be really grateful.

I've spoken to Apple directly about the issue and they couldn't assist.

Screen grabs attached to show how Outlook displays emails with and without attachments.

From what I gather this has been a problem since 2012, it's been over three years since I used one but you could try this method.

1. Quit out of Apple Mail on all sources.

2. Go into your System Preferences.

3. Go into the iCloud system preference.

4. Enable iCloud Drive by putting the checkmark next to it.

5. Click on "Options..." next to iCloud Drive.

6. Scroll down until you see "Mail".

7. Enable Mail by putting a checkmark next to it.

8. Click Done.

9. Close your System Preferences.

10. Relaunch Apple Mail.

Then with any Mac, pour petrol on it, set on fire and get a proper machine.

Good luck

Hi Humboldt

I've tried your method but it didn't work.

Rather than setting fire to 3 machines, I'll try using a different email application instead.

This is an Outlook problem. It does not play well with Apple Mail.

The way I get round any attachment issues is by sending ZIP files. This does mean that your recipient must know you are doing this and make sure their email server/Outlook doesn't automatically delete the email because of the attached zip files.

And HTML... seriously, just use plain text format. I cannot see any need to format emails using HTML, most of them are using crap fonts (Comic Sans) or illegible fonts so just use plain text format.

I stumbled across a solution which allows me to use an HTML email signature and Mac Mail. All I have to do is add the attachment after the signature. I was adding the attachment in the thread of the email which was causing the issue when received by Outlook.

All good now—thanks for the help.

To be honest I had assumed you had attached at the end of the email. Why you are allowed to attach stuff in the middle of the email is a bit strange to me.
