Bonfires?

Anyone know of any actual firework displays this year with a bonfire? The MOD one is on but seems only to be MOD personnel but I can't find any details of anything at the showground.

Penkridge usually has an excellent fire display and a large bonfire, always been a favourite with the family.

There does seem something anachronistic about a medieval Nov 5th bonfire night though.
Maybe they are planning to burn ''Scott the magician' on the fire as a witch.

It is indeed all kinds of wrong, but still I love a good joust...

There's a banner up on the side of the Cricket club on riverway regarding something firework/ bonfire related happening on Sunday 4th...

Banner by the showground gates. "Firework spectacular" 4th November starts at 4pm. Didn't see any mention of bonfire but I didn't see all the details v

If you fancy travelling further afield this is usually a good night just the other side of Newport.

Yes, that's where we usually go, but they don't have a bonfire, which I can't blame them for. It gets super busy and hard to get to the bar too
Yes unfortunately there's no bonfire. The cricketing members of the club don't take particularly kindly to burning a hole in their outfield :)

We're also a little limited with space on the bar situation. Moving the hot drinks to the members room definitely helped last year and we've got more stalls outside this year which might also help to provide an alternative activity for people in the run up to the display rather than just waiting in the bar

We've considered putting a separate bottle bar area in the main function room to supplement the main bar but at the moment we feel the space this will take up, the additional fridges needed to keep the drinks cold and the additional volunteers needed to run it probably wouldn't outweigh the benefits it might bring

We're welcome to suggestions for improvement though if anyone has any

Yeah - I fully understand the limitations of the space - it's a great event, and we might yet end up there yet

There are two 'SLOW' signs and some taped-off gateways around Worston Mill - suggesting that a bonfire/fireworks event may be imminent.

I hope everyone who came to the fireworks at the Cricket & Hockey club last night had fun. It was a very busy night! If anyone has any suggestions for improvement next year, please let me know :)
