Crews, from Stafford, Stone, Rugeley and Rising Brook, were called to Hixon Airfield near Stafford at around 8.05pm.

The involves a garage unit which is 50 per cent alight, while 15 vehicles have been destroyed as the flames spread.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed the water carrier unit from Cannock and the aerial ladder platform from Longton are also in attendance.

He said: "We are currently tackling a fire at a garage unit at the Hixon Airfield industrial estate. The call initially came in at 8.05pm reporting several oil drums on fire near a HGV.

It is the Airfield Industrial Estate on New Road. Glad no one was injured, the chap who owns the garage must be devastated. My car has had many an MOT undertaken there. @littleme is right, it is so sad.
