I saw a government surplus military laser at a car boot sale and thought it would make a great Christmas light show in the garden.
Then the bloody neighbours started moaning about washing lines being sliced through, finding two halves of a cat on the lawn and missing chimney pots. Personally, I think some people just can't get into the Christmas spirit.

I have spent a couple of evenings rearranging my pictures into subject folders - I did have a halfhearted system, but it needed doing properly, so that stuff can be found more easily. There may be further subdivisions in the future, but they'll be fairly easy to achieve now.

I have left them 'as loaded' in another machine, so that they are still largely in date order in there.

Henceforth, after the end of each month, it shall be part of standing orders to allocate all new pictures to a subject folder.

A few weeks ago, I purchased about four meters of very nice chain from the Hospice Warehouse, with no particular immediate task in mind for it. Until such a function becomes apparent, it is being employed as an additional convection source on the shed stove, extracting a bit more heat from the flue gasses. The flue still remains hot enough all the way up - after the rebuild in the summer that removed a few air leaks.
