Christmas 2018

The morning has been spent changing beds and dealing with a mountain of laundry that has some how built up to exceptional levels in the past 3 days.

Table has been laid, then relaid because it didn’t meat the approval of a ten year old guest and then relaid again because we are apparently now down to 16 people for dinner.

And I’ve done no more wrapping since the other day.

Is it too early to start on the Christmas booze? Or too late book a flight to somewhere warmer and less less drizzley?

In the last couple of days got the trees and decorations up and bought most of the food. Presents have accumulated over a period of time and will be wrapped tomorrow (I hope)

Bring it on.

Head chef for 6, food sorted - easy peasy lemon squeezy.

One present left unsorted, CANNOT square circle - difficult difficult lemon difficult.

One day left, heaven help us all.

T Actual F? What has become of us?

I’ve finished wrapping!!!!!!

Kids are asleep, pressies are under the tree!

Still have the nightmare of stocking duty to come.

We’ve had a lovely day, very chilled morning, Christmas film and pjs until after 12, quick pop out to the local co-op and a cheeky prosecco in the pub, hot chocolate and cake for the kids, few odd jobs at home some crap tv and snuggles on the sofa this afternoon, we’ve had the usual Christmas Eve drops ins who have all been Christmas buffet fed and watered (with wine) it turned into quite a houseful at one point.

Food is prepared, literally just a matter of flicking the oven on and chucking stuff in throughout the morning.

Just got to finish the jug of Buck’s Fizz and navigate the creaky floorboards with the stupid oversized present filled socks without waking the small people and we’re done.

Merry Christmas everyone! X

I'm up twiddling my thumbs waiting for everyone else!

Had the best Christmas present ever yesterday- my auntie got a rescue dog! She is so gorgeous I had to restrain myself from hugging her all evening!

Within 2 hours she had settled down and was conked out by the fireplace fast asleep (the dog not my auntie!)

Merry Christmas all xxx

Ours has been brined. Apparently that means it'll only need 2 hours - to be fair that's based on experience - but I am very concerned.

Just done the Doncaster parkrun too so I need a lie down.

I feel like I’ve been awake for days despite 4 giant cups of super strength coffee, the presents have been made short work of, there are three huge bin bags full of wrapping paper and boxes in the garage. Pancakes and Buck’s Fizz demolished for breakfast!

The bird and the beef are in the oven, turkey is enormous with a 4 hour 40 mins cook time to come out at 12.30 and free up space for everything else. Possibly going to struggle this year with getting everything to the table hot despite having a double oven, though piping hot gravy hides a multitude of Luke warm sins!

Clean up of wave 1 is complete! It’s worked out really well, got a couple of hours to chill before people start to arrive. Which is a first to be honest as it’s usualy no stop all day.

Are all you lovely lot getting dressed up? It’s leggings, a Christmas jumper and slippers all day for me.
