Wireless connection problems...

I was recently given a G4 Macbook Pro, which is a very nice thing to happen to you. I have also borrowed a D-Link AirPlus G+ Wireless Router. Sorted.

No.

I've never used a Mac before, but it was easy enough to set it up and to find the wireless connection. When I go into the connection settings thingy it tells me that I'm connected to this router and have a full signal, however when I try to open a Safari page it just gives me a blank page and the progress bar does jack shit. Does anyone have any ideas? Am I missing something obvious?

Try repairing your permissions. Go into Disc Utility, highlight the hard drive and take it from there.

Get a wire?
Seems a bit silly when I have my PC plugged in already. I want to be able to use the laptop in the lounge/garden...
Get a long wire? Perhaps on one of those retractable things, like what you can get a dog lead on?
