That vegan thread.

Various things, there's no way the other half would, I haven't got my head fully round it yet, etc. etc. All the usual excuses. The OH is generally away 2 nights a week so I try not eat any meat those days.

I'm in my healthy BMI, have been for the last 2 and a half years for probably the first time in my life. I do need to lose a little fat though and I know not eating meat would help with that.

Animal agriculture isn't for the faint-hearted but who plays a/their part in that?
These are all just words, just a message to get across. i've had to put up with some major shit in this thread and only shoot back if prodded. Read the thread to see who does the prodding.

Question why you find a vegan thread upsetting over the subject being discussed/argued.

Sometimes you can't put across how zhitty we are to animals without being shitty to those who can't see themselves being shitty.

Honestly, there are a whole bunch of vegan cheese that taste very different and everyone has an opinion.
The vegan jackfruit pizza Pizzahut did was great imo, and will be coming back.

But the truth is, Vegan cheese will only ever be a pretender - if you liked strong cheese like me, there is no real substitute unless you pay for the expensive stuff. (but Im not spending £15 for cheese. I'll devour the free samples at festivals however ;) )

One thing i had to get use to when i decided not to eat animals (or whatever) any longer was tasting something and expecting it to be delicious and exactly like what i was use to, it takes practice and a lot of experimenting, but it's all in the name of doing the right thing, so never saw it too much of a ball ache.

Cheese was one of the classic what the cluck am i going to do without cheese? moments, but to be honest it was only ever the cheap bog standard rubbery cheddar i liked, mainly for melting on a slice of toast or in a sausage sarnie or sprinkling over pizza, if i was being extra devilish then mature cheddar but nothing more. It took me a while to find a decent cheese and now i can't get enough of Violife's selection of plant based cheeses.

Now, my partner loved their cheese, always insisted on a cheese selection at Christmas and all that jazz, so had more trouble than most. But they made it through, they like the cheeses they've found, so there you go, has a cheese selection at Christmas and all that jazz, everything new in life can take time to get use to.

This same thing can be applied to something as mundane as water, ex'amps; one likes ones Ty Nant natural mineral water but now i've told myself i'm longer having the stuff, and water from the tap just doesn't do it for me, well, no horseshit Sherlock, try other bottled water, try water from several different taps and so it goes...

I'm very aware i can go on, but i feel so strongly about the injustices towards animals, i can't help it most times.

Interesting. We can't stand the violife cheeses but love sheese! Just have to find one that suits!

You tried the vegan pizzas from Papa Johns yet? If you like Sheese, i think you'll like the garden party pizzas.
I've tried them and would have preferred Violife but there you go, still an OK pizza.

Just seen this post about a vegan restaurant opening up.
My son has recently been diagnosed with a dairy allergy so I’m following this thread to help find some alternatives for him.

Hopper Howard's in Cannock.

Been a few times and it's a nice little place which is V and Ve at the moment.
Vegan evenings each Saturday and they were thinking of going fully Ve sometime soon, depending on takings. I think.
The lady makes vegan cakes, has vegan cake making sessions and vegan cooking classes, so here's hoping!

Sorry to hear about your son but then it may be one of the better things to have happened to him and definitely the best things to have happened for the dairy animals.

Any queries shout them out, i'll try my damndest to help and there's a few on here that have good advice and experiences when it comes to being (and becoming) dairy free.

Can't see how developing an allergy can be one of lifes 'better' experiences for anyone.
It's a dairy allergy, so now he doesn't touch dairy.
If he were homeless (for example), i'd consider a dairy allergy a better experience.

But he's not.
Having said that I'm not going to get into an argument brought about by a fellow forumite's son's misfortune.

Allow me to reiterate, it's a good thing (some might say better - me for example!) that he was diagnosed (at all) with a dairy allergy, from experience, that's something that could have gone round and round in circles and dem symptoms never got'n to the bottom of.

I do hope that clears things up Trumpet, as there was never an intention on my part, to cause an argument over and in regards this lads diagnosis.

However you now want to put the spin on it, it's clear where you were coming from.
But as I said, not going to get into the argument.
