I play farpoint on the PlayStation vr headset.
Game and gun controller was £74
Psvr headset was around £300

.... Of course, a PlayStation 4 helps too.

Very immersive
Some games can make you feel dizzy/sick , however I've not suffered this issue myself.
As far as gaming on the PlayStation, I would never go back to 2D games and only play using VR now.

YMMV.

I have seen videos of people I know having this inflicted on them - one involved being attacked by giant spiders, with swords.

One person ended up running into a real wall which "wasn't there" in the virtual set-up, in order to escape certain death....

Mmm . . . what I’m taking from this thread is that it might be unwise to wear your VR helmet near a motorway.

YMMV depending on what you play, etc.

If you try the Gear VR, you'll probably find it makes you sick. A lack of positional tracking will do that. Proper VR is done on a PC or at a stretch the PSVR right now - it's way better than the mobile guff. If you want to try it out, stick to stuff that has you teleporting around, because moving around with a trackpad requires some "VR legs" first. Doesn't bother me any more, I regularly play a Counter-Strike like game called Pavlov now.

Just been (virtually) to SXSW in Austin, Texas for a gig. VR is coming on in leaps and bounds.

Still makes me feel like throwing up though.

You've been trying the wrong VR, probably the 3 degrees of freedom crap (rotation but no positional movement). I do the odd bit of work on the Oculus Go (which has no positional tracking) and despite having 3 years of VR under my belt, I still get a little queezy in it sometimes.

The stuff that tracks your head movement is way better.
