Apparently it was mentioned on Signal 1 last night!
apparently? surely you should have been phoning the local stations to let them know in the first place?!

what happened with the newsletter thing? i can't believe that an event like this didn't get a single column inch in any local paper.. did you even try to contact anyone??

i know you're going to go on the defensive now and make out that everyone is having a pop at you, but come on, we just want to know what on earth you have been doing this whole time to promote an event you claim to be so passionate about!!

Well, they aren't necessarily going to do a radio interview with the organisers or anything. Personally, I can quite envisage a situation where somebody will alert them to the event and they mention it when they can/when they think is best; and I wouldn't want to be the poor sod who had to listen to Signal 1 til the announcement went out... :)
Anybody know how many tickets have been sold?

to be honest, i wasn't expecting any radio coverage.. i just think it's a bit of a shame that the only promotion LMHR seems to have had is passive (i.e. someone from the newsletter just happened to call, signal 1 just happened to mention it, etc.).. why was this gig not actively promoted?? i'm being reliably informed by people that there are no posters round town, no flyers being handed out in pubs/clubs/shops, etc.. why not??

i'm sure discs & disks wouldn't have minded, and i'm sure rich upsetter (of www.8ball.co.uk fame) would have happily sent flyers out with all his deliveries, etc.. but no-one was approached; none of this happened..

when people offered to help in the past they were told to leave off, as it was all under control..

hello peeps...been a while.

do any flyers exist for tonight? if so i would suggest someone who has 'organised' the night should be pounding the streets of stafford from 7pm until at least 10pm handing out flyers and laying on the charm to get people through the door. i would have thought the firkin, joxers etc would be good places to start..

the bands are offering to support and play this gig for free, and i know a child rasputin is coming up from london especially to do so, thus not playing his regular paying gigs in and around london...someone needs to pull their finger out their arse here...

cheers...so...flyers?
I'm not aware of any actual flyers having been produced...only the electronic one which TENSHON also made in his own time, for no money. I really hope this is a huge success, but next time there needs to be much much more effort where publicity is concerned. I would be more than happy to deal with all the promotion.

i can make a quick call to tenshon to potentially get some printed out if there is someone to hand them out...
That would be very generous indeed. You there Lunar??

edit: I'm going there at 6.30 to help set things up. If this is a possibility then I'd be more than happy to take some flyers with me and I will recruit a couple of people to wander round the pubs and BTTF Square.

no go im afraid...the nazis at trinity mirror dont allow printing of flyers on company copiers anymore for some reason.

In Lunar's defence i did see a LMHR poster up at the university whilst i was flyering up there.

I'm sure 100 people will turn up, sometimes people dont like buying tickets in advance but then go on the spur of the moment. (optimism :) )

excellent, glad to hear it! yeah, it's just dawned on me that some of us (ahem) are sounded very pessimistic all of a sudden.. i stand by everything i have said, but as you say the night is still young, so there's no point bad-mouthing it into the ground before it's even had a chance!!

whereabouts did you see the poster(s), thefordsquad?

HubbyRat saw the LMHR advertised on the front cover of the studenty magaziney thing apparantly

in the union...i saw them whilst dropping my own illicit non-union "approved" flyers onto the tables and pinning them to notice boards..(how rebellious!)...i saw a couple anyways....

brilliant! looks promising. sorry cant be there to add my arse to the numbers and generally lend support to LMHR, deterring the likes of the bnp from even trying to get a foot hold in the magnificent county town of Stafford.

have temendous fun you guys

I have just sent a broadcast email, as per thefordsquad's request, reminding users of the event :)

Edit: Oh dear, it looks like the forum mailer doesn't parse quotation marks properly, so the email text is slightly garbled. Hopefully it won't stop the message getting through!
