Desperate Councils

Regardless of how inept or not people regard the likes of Staffordshire County Council, the fact is they are being screwed over by the government, with massive year on year cuts, whilst trying to meet the ever increasing costs of social care. I'm afraid selling off assets and cutting other services is the only answer for many of them.

And before we condemn the government or the councils, remember, we, as a society, voted for this.

Firstly, these 'cash-strapped' councils should reduce the salaries paid to gravy train execs. £250k is an insult to everyone.

That's the point. If someone can get paid £2m to play golf all day, or whatever CEOs do, fine. But if the're working for the public they should be paid a reasonable amount, not 50% more than the PM.

Little evidence that Staffs is benefiting from good management.

Once again, you are missing the point...

Councils should lead the way with board room pay being restricted relative to the lowest paid employees.

High salaries != competence.
