Most successful towns have a basic reason for their existence - Swindon was a railway town - it isn't any more, it is just an area full of tin sheds and housing estates, a status that Stafford seems to be successfully striving to achieve.

But as we all know, there will never be the money put into a cohesive traffic management policy and definitely not into public transport.

The car is just too easy to use to get exactly where you want to go compared to any other forms of transport.

It also doesn't stop working before midnight. Public transport outside of big cities just isn't remotely useful after midnight. A taxi is not really public transport either, so that doesn't count.

As for the original topic, I saw a car go through the traffic lights along Weeping Cross at around 50MPH about 6 seconds after they had turned to red.

I rarely drive on motorways, but have just driven southbound from J15 to J14 on the M6 - having seen the size of the potholes in the nearside lane, I know fully understand why people sit in the middle lane for miles on end.

It's the lane the HGVs use the most and they damage the roads the most. Hence why they pay more in tax and when they use the toll road.

It's very nice of them to pay more - let's hope that the people that get these all extra payments spend some of it on a few buckets of tarmac.

That's what the Main St will look like once the new shopping carbuncle is opened.

Seems strange Worcester with most people taking notice of the red lights. They do have cameras on quite a few though...

Actually crossed on the green man several times today without nearly being mowed down

My last visit home I was down by the old Lloyd's Bank Road/Riverway.

Car pulled around the two in front of it in order to jump the red light.

That was pretty impressive.

I was quite pleased to find that there's now a facebook page dedicated to shaming shitty drivers in our town.
One of these days, when I get round to buying the right adapter for my dash camera, I'll send in some of my own. I see some right crackers.

I'm just waiting for the day my car appears, not that I drive like a cock, I just use an awful lot pf handsignals at the idiots on our roads.
