Is there a Bird of Prey next on the tall building on South Walls?

Sorry to pigeon lovers, (treerats?), But the more of the ill and aging examples of those avian pests they can consume, is fine with me! :) They can even have a few of the healthy ones if they are particularly peckish! ;)

Were my ears deceiving me, or did I hear the distinctive sound of a falcon calling today from on high up in the BT bronze mountain! Could it be that the Peregrines have returned to their former nesting sight? Late I think, but I am certainly not a avian expert! ;)
Got the surprise of a buzzard flying over my back garden in Highfield Grove! Was being mobbed by a crow! I believe buzzers have a number of nests about a mile away on the island in the irrigation lake in fields between the Grammar School sports pitches and Hyde Liegh, The Moat, Coppenhall Gorse. https://www.google.com/maps/place/H...52b1f0b979f2547!8m2!3d52.7781552!4d-2.1325512
Have seen a buzzard over Rowley before, but was delighted to see it low over my garden! (Humour him, he has lead a VERY sheltered existence. Ed.)

Ah-ha! On Sunday there was a gentleman with a huge-enormous camera, taking photos of the top of BT Bronze Mountain!

The Peregrines have been returning every year for quite a long time now. The nest site they have chosen is, fortunately, one of the most secure sites possible, meaning they can get on with their business, whilst the public pass by, below, mostly unaware.

So that’s what I keep hearing on Stafford’s ugliest* building. I did wonder if it was artificial as a deterrent.

Have you never seen Kemley House or the Borough Council building?

How much magnification is required? Got a 60x lens, can I just walk up to the top?
The lift is quicker.

@Tilly alluded elsewhere that some sort of agro had been dished out, but i've never been challenged.

Just the kind of magnification that you would have about you anyway - it's quite a way to over there, but you just start at their level sort of thing.

I did once get someone coming all 'what are you doing here' at me, but that was because i was riding up the whole thing on my bike, and i don't think they quite knew what to do about it - i think i may well be the first person that rode the whole thing to the top on a bicycle, and was probably also the first to ride down it too.

Jump in the lift, ride it to the top, it'll take them a while to get to you even if they can be arsed.

There was a huge nesting box for Peregrines installed on the roof of the Civic Centre about ten years ago, I never heard if anyone took up residence though. There was also a large plastic model of a European Eagle Owl on one of the end stairwell towers too, but even the sparrows used to perch on that.

The Sandonia had one briefly, too, but the pigeons just took the piss out of it straight away...

Last time I looked, there was scaffolding up the front of Lloyd's Bank - it will be interesting to see if their owl continues to stand guard into the 2020s.

It's been there since at least the 1980s, possibly even back to the 1970s.
