Love your use of the word "interesting"!!! I take it from that, you don't expect it to look that good when it's finished?? I tend to agree with you on that one.

Tenpin seems to have two main entrances on the artist's depiction - surely an error, or is this to cope with the increased flow of pedestrians in and out of the venue?

Over two years for a stretch of bloody road that will alleviate approximately feck all.

The average Grand Designs build gets put up faster than these works

:strange: Mmmm, not sure about that assessment. In a morning coming down West way, attempting to turn right into Newport Road into town, often leaves you queuing back up West Way as far as the shops. When you do get as far as the lights, you are just joining the cue bumper to bumper into town, and queuing back up as far as the Castle! I can only assume it is hoped that traffic wanting to go through Stafford using Chell road will use it!

I think it may be so popular it will cause problems along West Way as people will want to use it when coming down the Wolverhampton Rd, or from Cannock and Rugley via Silkmore Lane! Stafford is a "Horlicks" as far as traffic is concerned. I may be wrong, it may be a masterstroke, but it is certainly a very expensive punt that will cost a flippin fortune, and cause loads more traffic chaos before its finished, Ho Hum! :fap:

"IF" is the biggest word around, but "IF" a proper ring road had been built around the town many years ago, there may have been less need for this sort of thing (the WAR) but we are now where we are. Also, if you only ever walk or cycle you are bound to frown on this as it means change to our environment on a large scale.
We won't know if theor studies were correct until we see what the road brings us. Personally I think it will shift the bottleneck while benefitting other areas. Gaol Road, Chell Road, Tenterbanks and Station Road will all run more smoothly but building more than a thousand homes on the route that is being built will have a gradual effect over the coming years.

"Every faith in the management!"

it's not being built to ease traffic congestion. it's being built to provide access to development land to the west of Stafford. the councils own traffic assessment states that once the route is fully operational Newport road will be operating at capacity as will Foregate street. so regular peak time queues will be the norm.

Indeed. To reduce traffic volume we need to look at reducing car numbers. Build roads and they shall come.

it may be more to do with the 3000 houses, shops and the Stafford gateway project for the increasing car numbers in the area

Of course it's moving it so certain roads won't be as busy until more cars are on the road. Quite predictable that Station Road and Newport Road won't be as clogged for a while.

It has been understood for at least the last 20 years that pretty much all that happens if you build roads is that the demand will increase to fill them.

You don't decrease demand for road space by creating more of it, you make more demand, and more, and more...

Fighting for peace is like f**cking for virginity.
