Good news ...part came into garage this morning and car now passed it's MOT.

Not so good news....cost £253 !

Now hoping for good news later from the solicitor saying they have actually seen the elusive NHBC certificate. Been told it does exist and place that issued it were sending a copy to sellers solicitors in Worcester, who in turn had to send to ours in Cardiff. Latest on friday evening was sellers solicitors hadn't yet got it, and sons mortgage funds had been returned to Nationwide and were re-applying for again today :(

Feel like jumping in the car, collecting a copy of the certificate myself, driving to Worcester and standing over their solicitor while she reads it and then driving to Cardiff to hand over to ours. Dragged on for 15 weeks so far now, for a supposedly 'quick' no chain sale of a 7 year old house. Giving up that contract ever getting signed :(

I agreed a no chain sale one August, got the keys in the December :(
In 1980, I also 'bought' the house in August and moved in in December. The house was occupied until 'the day', though I don't know if they had a chain.

The thing did seem a bit draggy at the time, until suddenly everything was urgent. I very nearly ended up with their daughter still living in her bedroom as my tenant.

I still have her wallpaper up, if she needs to come back.

Edit - found the picture...

The sellers accepted sons offer on condition the contracts were exchanged by 1st May. It's empty as it was their mothers house , who had died , and the 2 sons are selling it. But it's their solicitor who has been the dozy arse all along , ours are on the ball and getting most frustrated with her. It's me who's kept the estate agents in the loop all along and letting them know how far we are at. Even the estate agents said that it's strange the sellers haven't been chasing them, they haven't been in touch with the agents at all . (When I was selling my parents house, I was in touch with the agents regularly. )

Wish I hadn't transferred my 'gifted' funds and sons deposit money over so quickly now, in readiness for 'the off. Losing out on all the interest whilst it's sitting in the lawyers account!

Just think how grateful the solicitors will be for all that interest.
I'm losing out on cider money ....

No call back today yet, so obviously no joy . They work til 8pm , I live in hope  (Nearly broke my neck racing to the phone just, to find it was just the hairdressers )

Ooooooh :bananafunk::dance::bananafunk::dance: whoopy dooopy whooopy woo ......just heard the elusive vital certificate has now been seen and contracts can be exchanged tomorrow if they can get the mortgage funds re-sent out to them in time. (Would all have to finally all come together at the time they had to send them back to the lender due to time limit ! )

Hope it's tomorrow as I've got the car all to myself with hubby working away ......might finally get to load it with all the stuff I bought son , and cart it all off down the motorway.. No more stumping my toes on the patio chairs ,sitting looking very elegant in the lounge , to reach the curtains :D

Just done a jigsaw puzzle , fitting things into every nook and cranny in our little car in readiness. Hope I'm not taking it all back out again this end on thursday

Called into a cider farm shop en route to a cottage in Devon and a very nice lady offered small samples of most of the cider they had.

Unfortunately I was driving so couldn't take full advantage of her offer.

Anyway after trying a few I asked if she had any rhubarb cider and she replied "no, but I have some rhubarb drinking vinegar". At this point I settled for a 3L pouch of Grenville's Revenge and the good news is the shop is 5 miles down the road when I run out :)

I'm just getting about:blank#blocked

Maybe good job sellers solicitor hasn't done her job getting paperwork in place yet :mad: and I didn't get a call to start off down the motorway earlier .

If anyone else is planning a southbound journey this morning ...

Hubby just been stuck southbound J13-12 because of accident and all lanes closed. He was 300 yards behind the accident in his works car , so on the move in the now 2 open lanes, but traffic at the moment reported back past J14 with 1 hour delays .

Not good at playing this waiting game !
