My phone thought I was here when I was near Caswell Bay. Must have been a "holy" walk because my walking boots were bone dry when we got back

Quite a few years ago, phone reckoned that I was in the middle of the North Yorks Moors and my nearest wifi point was in Droghedra, neither was correct. Glitch soon cleared itself but the phone company concerned no longer exists.

So, I recently picked up a Karcher patio cleaner at the Hospice shop. It was very cheap, though it did come without the necessary lance extension. I was prepared to wait until one of those turned up at the right price - on eBay, maybe.

It is 'usable' without the lance extension, but it's a rather unergonomic thing in those circumstances.

The extension can be a fairly elusive item to purchase on its own, but I was in no great rush.

So, imagine my surprise, and delight, on walking into a hardware shop that often has interesting items, to find one on the first display, and at a very attractive price.

So, I set about cleaning a fairly large area of concrete paving. All went very well for a quarter of an hour, then it started playing up.The pressurised supply to the cleaning head would cut out for a second every two or three seconds. Eventually, I reverted to the 'traditional' lance and nozzle arrangement and finished the section that I was doing at the time. This gave me time to think about what the fault could be. Being on the end of the mains supply, and at a fairly low supply pressure, might have led to the pump 'beating' the supply and air being drawn it at the many joints in the hose that was bringing the water to the pump. Fixing all the dodgy joints had no great beneficial effect.

Further thought made me realise that the motor was still running all the time, although the pressurised supply stopped - which is just what happens when the trigger is released. I wondered if the pump was supplying water at such a rate that the backpressure was leading to the system believing that the trigger had been released - the head has only two jets and whatever leaks from the rotary pivot bearing.

I resolved to dismantle it and consider slightly increasing the jet diameter.

Dismantling it revealed that one of the jets was partially blocked by a piece of grit. Removal of this proved to be a complete solution. I had run it to check that both jets were operational, but this did not give away the partial blockage situation.

A highly recommended device. Quick, thorough and with a minimum of overspray.

On Sunday evening we went for a lovely meal, dressed up for a posh restaurant.
Then later we got changed into shorts and headed along the beach to listen to a steel band.

After that, we moved on to where it was "jumping on de Sunday night man"

I've been a lucky girl and had a 60th birthday to remember.

Took the top pix this morning walking around Tamar Lake. Glorious summer morning. But, for a bit of perspective, here's the same view last January, also a glorious morning but about 20 degrees colder (36 degrees colder in old money.)

I have family down visiting this weekend. Today I took them to Tintagel, where they've just opened the new bridge access across to the castle. A footbridge with a gap in the middle so you can look down and cure your constipation, and it wobbles too !!
I like it !!! :teef:

WARNING: Don't wear a base ball cap when crossing as it's windy. Mine is still there !!! :(

Some day today was. Decided to drive out to Dartmoor and do the two highest points. Yes Tor and Highwill Hays. Parked up at Meldon Reservoir and got to the top of Yes Tor in an hour. Tee shirt and shorts weather !!!
Pix one taken from the Trig point on top of Yes Tor looking toward High Willhays on the left and Great Links Tor on the right.
Pix two some very pissed off looking ponies just below the summit of High Willhays.
Pix three the dishes where I used to work (over 25 miles away so had to put on some magnification) taken from the summit of High Willhays. Slightly hazy sky but good visibility otherwise.
Now utterly shagged out.

Tarted up the two cordless saws that I got the other week - used both to create a temporary installation of the 'spare' cooker in the shed.

It will eventually have a place by a wall, so that the cylinder can live outside.
